Summer curtains

I know what you mean Mishap I thought about changing the curtains in my lounge/diner recently. There's a picture window one end and patio doors the other. After a trip to the shops I decided what I have will do

It may seem expensive to have winter and summer curtains but we have had one pair of curtains for over 30 years and most of the others for 10 to 20. And it's useful when they need cleaning to have another set to put up straightaway.

Just one set here. Don't need to pull them till late in the summer so seems a waste to me.

And that's the summer cushion covers washed, dried and put on. Job complete.

Nearly forgot the summer lampshades! One last trip to the loft.

Is there a Summer DH in the loft?

We I leave the same curtains up year in year out. Quite often in summer we I just don't draw them. Some of our windows have no curtains – no need when you're at the end of a farm track up a hill.

I have washed one of the pairs of curtains in the last eight years. There isn't much need for washing curtains, let alone changing them, with our lovely clean air.

Besides, I've got other things I'd rather be doing than carting ladders around and changing curtains.

My very dark brown velvet curtains were bequeathed to me by my MIL and a friend altered them to fit our windows. They must be about thirty years old. I clean them every year by putting them in the tumble dryer on the cool setting with three softener sheets. The sheets come out black. The curtains come out like new!

My Mum and her Mum before her always changed from winter to summer curtains,I follow their tradition and do likewise,bedroom as well as living room curtains.

In truth I detest winter. So this ritual is to me what the summer solstice is to the Druids

I didnt know there were such things as summer/ winter curtains.
When I was a young mum with no money it made smile listening to people talking about their summer and winter clothes. My winter clothes were jumpers over my summer clothes!
Nowadays I really enjoy swapping over my winter and summer clothes, I feel like I have made it in life. However, I am always aware of my mums rule that once the summer clothes go on you cant go back as you will get a chill. Or round the other way. One of her many many odd rules that she still is trotting out to anyone who will listen!
Re the duvets. I am so hot in bed that we have a 4 tog in winter and a 1 tog in summer.
Do I need to get summer and winter curtains?

I still can't get over the fact that DD doesn't put her children in vests!!
