Lidl again! Window Cleaner this time

Am always slightly surprised that people are surprised that their products are so good .
I think that the Germans are fanatical about cleanliness[nothing racial] so their products always seem to deliver . Big time

Nonu I think you are so right, but I also think that there is a mentality that if it's cheap(er) it can't be any good.

For yonks now I have been buying the Kania brand (i.e. Lidl) tomato ketchup. When you compare the list of ingredients, it actually contains more tomato per 100g than Heinz, but time after time while shopping in Lidl I see people look at both and then opt for the Heinz.

While I was still working [sob] I always used to take a packet of biscuits in on Monday morning and put them on the communal "canteen" table. Towergate, Lidl own type brand again, ginger nuts 25p a packet! The crew could not believe that they were that price until one day when I took in the receipt to show them.

Oh! Just when I've bought a Karcher! and haven't got round to using that yet )

I think it's alright to call people clean Nonu.

I had been using the Lidl window cleaner for ages until I bought a Karcher a while ago which came with some of its own concentrated cleaner. I haven't use much of it so far , so have not found out if the Lidl cleaner works as well with the Karcher.

The Lidl W5 Glasses Wipes for specs is excellent as well.

Germans are not a separate race from Brits anyhow. Isn't our queen rather German via Prince Albert and the Saxe-Coburg Gotha family?

What I'm saying is, don't worry, nonu. It's fine to say Germans are good at stuff. Race does not come into it.

The Germans do have a reputation for being thorough, so that probably applies to their cleaning as well.

Perhaps I have just a little German ancestry, it seems to emerge about once a year, so I can't have much. In fact, it may emerge soon as my windows are looking very dirty indeed. Then again, we are having the outside of the house painted at the moment, so no point really.

I could clean my spectacles though, and satisfy my cleaning urges.

I've used all the W5 products for years and always found them excellent products and you are so right nonu the Germans and also the Dutch will always favour the best product at the best price and they do it so well,when we lived abroad they used to be first in line at the local lidl when the veg etc was due for delivery as they knew it would be top quality and even cheaper in price than the Spanish market prices,very "canny" they are indeed,and good luck to them I would rather have a cupboard full of products that work well than a cupboard full of named brands.

I just bought a lovely swimsuit in Lidl - 9,99 (euros - I live in France) Its a great fit, the front is lined and I'm thrilled with the style - halter neck and the back isnt too low.

Here in France, if it wasnt for Lidl, Aldi and Leader Price - we would be broke. The leading supermarkets (equivalent to Sainsbury's Tescos etc) charge the earth for absolutely everything - you need a personal loan to go in there. So everyone gets all their essential stuff at Lidl and then goes to Intermarche or Carrefour for the few items which cant be bought from Lidl.

Lidl (here) dont do aerosol furniture cleaners - which I find strange given that the Germans are very keen on cleanliness - nor fly spray.

When we lived in Germany, we had a neighbour who couldn't have upheld the stereotype of the clean-living German any higher if she'd tried. I am indebted to her for the tip re cleaning glass with vinegar and crumpled newspaper - I see passers by looking askance at me when I do my windows, but it does work remarkably well. What really made us laugh was her ueber-organised washing line. Everything ordered by colour, then by size, apart from her Monday to Friday knickers, which were of course ordered by the day of the week.

The Karcher is good, but I have to finish off with kitchen paper or some fine papery stuff my SIL gave me (I have no idea what it is, I think she bought it on a roll from Trago). Otherwise I seem to have little streaks of water around the edges and where I change direction with it.

DM used to use vinegar water and crumpled newspaper to clean her windows - done weekly and always sparkling, unlike mine.

Lidl's W5 answer to WD40 is equally effective and much cheaper.

anno not in all cases does W5 equal WD40! In the W5 range there are masses of cleaning products ( rosequartz completely agree with you re the glasses wipes!) The products include all sorts of stuff, kitchen cleaner, washing up liquid (just as good as Fairy, and 99p per litre) and all sorts of other stuff.

Don't think I would get much of a result cleaning my glasses with WD40!
