Many a time have I been disheartened at seeing what appeared to be beautifully clean windows that suddenly become smeary when the sun is shining through them at a certain angle.
I apply warm water with a very small squirt of washing up liquid, and then use one of those "hoover-type" window-cleaning contraptions to suck up the water, followed by a rub over with what I think is called "ticking" cloth. This seems to work better than any other method I've used.
