Rechargeable vacuum cleaners

As I am now old and feeble and cant manage the heavy Vax cleaner we have I am seeking a hand held rechargeable so I can use it and take it upstairs. The name Dyson is not mentioned in these hallowed halls for fear of offending DH (also we don't mention Rupert Murdoch or Arsenal but that's by the by). Notwithstanding this we sallied forth to Curry's and I insisted on inspecting the relative merits of D***n to the Bosch. The D***n came out best but was £399!! I almost had the vapours. Does anyone have one of these or similar - how about the Ram thingy? Please help.

I also have a Roomba and mine cost around £50. The only problem is that occasionally it gets stuck under my sideboard and I cannot get down and under the sideboard to reach it. It is great when I am totally bone idle and do not want to get out a hoover to clear bits which show up more easily on a laminate floor than a carpet. Once it is fully charged it takes I think 3 hours to recharge. I cannot remember how long each charge lasts because I have never run it that long. It is sufficient for my needs.
