Today OH and I went to B & Q (discount day) and bought lots of new LED bulbs for house , then spent a happy hour replacing every light bulb (except the porch, forgot that one lol) but now I have a bag full of perfectly good bulbs but what do I do with them? I presume just put them in the rubbish or is that wrong I'm not sure to be honest .

So what do you do with your old bulbs?

I could think of what to do with the many packs of low energy bulbs OH bought and hoarded several years ago but it's not very polite. Think oscopys.

Plant them and see what comes up in the Spring?grin

Alea (grin), we also have boxes of low energy bulbs in the garage I'd forgotten about till you said Neilliemoser

I found a couple of boxes of the low energy bulbs sent to households years ago in the cubby-hole under the stairs recently - those horrible curly things that took half an hour to brighten...I'm afraid they went in the bin! hmm

Freecycle or Freegle them. That is what I have done with mine.
Ana you are not meant to put them in the bin. You should recycle them in a special container at your local tip

Too late now, M0nica, but I'll bear that in mind for the future. Although aren't they supposed to last for years and years now? To justify their exorbitant cost?

I have been looking online a bit and it seems the low energy bulbs which are the ones I'm replacing have mercury in them and need to be recycled not putting in the bin so I guess I will take them to the tip and see if they have a recycle bin for them.. thanks guys .
