White bedding

Looking forward to redecorating and I really fancy white cotton duvet covers. We've stayed at hotels and been impressed by the look and feel of their bed linen. I expect they get washed every few days though. Any tips for keeping them white and soft at home? Also any recommendations of where to buy good quality cotton bedding? Thanks

I have had white bed linen for some time now, I love it, but have to be extra careful to thoroughly clean all make up off at night, black blobs don't look good on white pillowcases, or white towels for that matter. I also have to be careful if I'm doing my makeup sitting on the edge of the bed and with my first cup of coffee of the day.

Nonnie are they super King size cause if they are I'll have them. No point keeping them in a cupboard for the next so many yearswink

I love white bedding and would love to buy it from The White Company (I'm told the queen gets hers there) but I have a very messy husband who would drop his morning tea on it but we do have cream jacquard sets from Dorma (purchased at Dunelm) they look very nice.

I also like white cotton sheets but only on a bed I don't have to iron the sheets for ie a hotel. The thought of ironing anything, never mind sheets and duvet covers, would send me into a state of apoplexy.

I love white bedding and I use it on all the beds. I've come across a wonderful company recently called Mangle & Wringer (good name) who make Natural bleach and a wonderful natural washing powder without scent (i seem to be allergic to all fragrances in cleaning products these days). If you dry your linen on the line it has that wonderful old fashioned smell of fresh air. Reminds me of being a girl and being tucked up in my grandparents big double bed with the eiderdown on top. Has to be cotton of course.

I have white Egyptian cotton bed linen and a white Sanderson bedspread on my bed. I drink tea in bed often and have never had a problem with spills - my linens always come up beautifully clean at 60 degrees, but I also give them an occasional 90 degree wash and I don't use softener.

Brightly coloured bedding for me every time. The marks don't show. There's even the odd spot of nail varnish on a duvet cover somewhere. I really couldn't cope with white.

White bedding and towels all the way for me. There's no problem keeping it looking good these days - it just all goes in the wash at 60 and the laundry fairies do their stuff. I must be neater than I thought though - I often have breakfast in bed (a fried egg sandwich yesterday!) and can't remember ever messing up the sheets.

I love white linen on my bed, so crisp and fresh. I got the last set hugely reduced in the sale. It's Sanderson and washes beautifully. My towels are also white, so no laundry issues of a random colour getting in the wash. I wash my whites at 60 degrees and they stay pristine

I always have white bedding in Egyptian cotton and its always stayed nice and white at a 60 degree wash, you can so easily ring the changes with bits of colour and give a total new look when you need to with white at the moment my other colour in the bedroom is duck egg blue, but am looking to change soon to lilac.

I also have white bedding. I buy duvets and matching pillow cases with a ruffled finish so I don't have to iron them, just fold them carefully when they are dry. I turn the pillows over to the smooth side when I sleep and, as well as being more comfortable on my face, it keeps them looking whiter. However, my main reason for buying white bedding was so that I can wash other whites, i.e. DH's underwear and hankies! There were never enough whites to make up a single wash before I bought the bedding! So my whites aren't a style choice but a practical solution!
