I only ever buy :-
Colmans mustard
Nescafé gold blend coffee
Heinz baked beans
Own brands just do not float my boat!!

Twinings and Clipper for tea at DH's insistence. The only thing I would insist on would be HP for HP sauce! DH is much more fussy. Mind you, he used to say he only liked Heinz baked beans until I served up Branston one day. Now he says he only likes Branston... smile

Oh, I've remembered one for me. Heinz for tomato soup. I think I might even prefer it to my home-made version, which is pretty darned good.

In fact I buy mostly branded products as I think you get what you pay for. Having said that I now buy Aldi serum and face wash.

Twinings Earl Grey tea - no other Earl Grey will cut it;
Nescafé coffee;

Being a recent convert to Aldi and Lidl I'm really impressed with their products so the above could change smile

Not a lot at all.
Yorkshire Tea.
Twinings lemon and Ginger tea.
Shredded Wheat.
Loyd Grossman pasta and curry sauces.

I will always try own brands and if I like them, I keep buying them, If not I don't bother and try something else.

I find certain products like the pasta sauces vary a great deal in flavours I enjoy compared with other brands.

With other stuff such as toilet rolls I go for supermarkets own top of the range, so as not to waste money. Just because there is a well known brand name on it does not mean the product is essentially better than a similar product.
The classic example is generic over the counter medicines. Exactly the same ingriedients and about a quarter of the price of branded goods.
Aldi dishwasher tablets win "Which" magazine top awards and are lots cheaper than Fairy products.

It seems to me that our choice of brands of Tea and Coffee have a much deeper loyalty than most other food products.
I would suggest that many top price own brands of say standard tinned fruit and veg goods would be indistinguishable in any properly conducted double blind surveys.

MrsJamJam Sun 15-Nov-15 19:36:14

Fever tree tonic
Total greek yoghurt
Waitrose madagascan vanilla custard
I will only buy organic milk. Kinder to the cows and it tastes better.

suzied Sun 15-Nov-15 19:52:00

Lancôme mascara
Aldi serum
Nescafé gold blend
Felix cat food ( cat's choice)

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 15-Nov-15 19:52:53

I can't think of any un-branded things that I buy. They are never as good as the brand one. Only unbranded thing I can think of is Waitrose Gold teabags, which I buy for DH. I have to have Twinings Darjeeling.

Antjexix Sun 15-Nov-15 19:53:00

Our cat only eats Go Cat grin

Greenfinch Sun 15-Nov-15 20:31:51
