Do you iron your sheets?

I am sitting here with a pile of ironing - yes, that would be on a Saturday night - and wondering why I am ironing the bedsheets. Am feeling rebellious (this is what two glasses of red wine does to one). Does it really matter? Does anyone else bother ironing duvet covers and sheets or do you just put them on all wrinkly?

Sometimes iron them to store in Ottoman.

I just do pillow cases.

Since my arthritis has prevented me from doing ironing my help does it. I was surprised when she started ironing face clothes and towels. Waste of electricity!

I iron all bedding - feels wonderful getting into clean ironed sheets! However, I don't do what someone I used to know does - iron the sheets on the bed every morning!

If I, having people to stay I iron the duvet cover on the bed, much easier, but that's all I iron in the bedlinen department.

Yes I love freshly ironed sheets but my family think I'm mad !!

Bellasnana Sun 29-Nov-15 12:18:49

I most certainly do! If I were rich enough, I would pay someone to change and launder my sheets every day. Such luxury. grin

If it gets washed it gets ironed. I love ironing, so relaxing and I get some of my best ideas when I'm ironing.

I've just changed the bed and have put on wrinkly sheets and duvet cover. Hubby would occasionally make a comment on this but he can do it himself if he wants to. I loath ironing, and only iron the bare minimum. My mother loved to iron and would iron towels, tea towels, and underwear!

Yes I do iron duvet covers and rst of bedding. I can't stand wrinkly sheets. I too have one of those big steam iron stations which make ironing easy.
When dh does the ironing he irons the dishtowels as well because they do fit neatly into the drawer. Does anyone else put their sets of bedding into the pillow case of each set? It makes it so much easier when redoing the bed.

Nibbie Sun 29-Nov-15 12:38:07

I don't iron anything,DH does it all

henetha Sun 29-Nov-15 12:41:32

I discovered years ago how much I hate ironing, so I don't do it unless absolutely necessary..... the odd cotton top, for instance. Sheets definitely not! It's amazing what folding and patting will do.

Blondehedgehog Sun 29-Nov-15 12:43:38

There is nothing better than sliding into clean ironed fresh smelling sheets.
I always iron.
Both daughter in laws don't. Their sheets are hard and crinkled
To each there own

Definitely don't iron bed linen other than a few cotton pillowcases occasionally. (For guests!) DH does our ironing - sees it as his task! We hang up lots of things as soon as they are washed (on a Lakeland Ltd. "Hangaway") and this really cuts down on the clothes ironing. I knew of someone used to iron nappies!!! (These were terry nappies, of course - way back!) She also ironed socks, underwear and towels....

Granoveve Sun 29-Nov-15 13:33:51

Love the feel of ironed bedding, but like some others on here, I also send ironing out to be done by someone else. Too much on top of work. Never ironed towels or underwear even when I did the ironing myself and since DH retired, ironing hankies became his job. (What is it with men and reluctance to use tissues anyway?)?

fluttERBY123 Sun 29-Nov-15 13:43:26

If you hang sheets carefully to dry, smooth as you fold and press down they are pretty good. I have recently allowed myself the luxury of ironed cotton pillowcases - that is def worth it.

I iron the collars only of cotton blouses or they get irritating round the neck. Likewise just the bottom half of legs of trousers but that's because they are the only bits that show and don't mould to the bod.

I have an arthritic right shoulder which concentrates the mind. Ironing board down very low.

nathansgran47 Sun 29-Nov-15 13:45:26

No I don't iron sheets or duvet covers. But I do iron pillowcases!
Very little else.

brunswick Sun 29-Nov-15 13:45:34

NO

Sourcerer48 Sun 29-Nov-15 13:49:24

I too iron all my bed linen. Bit of a neat freak and there is nothing nicer than getting into a bed with clean crisp sheets. Also fits onto the shelves better when they've been ironed.
i actually find ironing quite therapeutic, it gives me a chance to think as the ironing itself is mindless. Such a good feeling when it is all done - i probably need to get a life...!

barbadosgan Sun 29-Nov-15 13:58:50

I am seriously shocked that some people dont iron at all. A quick iron of a top or trousers often revives them so they can be worn again. Sheets feel horrible unless ironed, although I used to have an aga and hanging sheets, neatly folded on the front rail, was an ok substitute.
Aga ironing was also good for teatowels
But what about mens shirts? They really cant go unironed. My husband does his in front if the tv.

nonnasusie Sun 29-Nov-15 14:17:58

I too never iron bedding apart from the odd pillowcase! I'll iron trousers ,t-shirts etc. but certainly not underwear!! I knew someone a long time ago ,in the days of terry nappies, that used to iron them shock! Life is definitely too short!!

babyjayne Sun 29-Nov-15 14:34:28

I iron all most everything even underwear. I just can't stand putting anything away creased. If the other half takes something off the ironing pile and wears it creased I can't bear it. Don't know if that's COD though

anne53 Sun 29-Nov-15 14:46:13

I iron all bedding. There is nothing quite like getting into a smooth clean bed. Sad, I know! My daughter thinks I'm mad!

jeanblew Sun 29-Nov-15 14:47:58

Yes I do as I don't like the look of wrinkly sheets. I always think they look and feel like new when they are ironed. I only iron though when I can sit down and watch a good film or documentary as it passes the time and doesn't seem like a chore.

downtoearth Sun 29-Nov-15 14:53:45

Noooooo ....but then I dont iron much anyway grin
