How do you get men's white y-fronts clean without using bio detergent (which they are so often allergic to) and a boil wash, which ruins the elastic ... c

...so that you don't get grey pants with, shall we say, 'off colour' middle bits?

Just had a really bad cough and couldn't have coped without Tena lady. Felt like a very old lady!! Sorry off topic?

Soak them in Persil, they will soon be white again.

Can't be said often enough ... CHANGE THEM EVERY DAY ... we ladies do so why can't the men

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 03-Feb-16 19:46:03

My DH changes his underpants every day without fail, but when we started living together over 30 years ago and I saw stains on his tighty whiteys, they had to go! First he changed to coloured y-fronts and then he chose to change to boxers and later to boxer trunks. Personally I think a man in white y-fronts is not an appealing sight, no matter how attractive the wear may be. Sorry.

I have to hand wash DHs silk boxers in lux flakes and he buys new white boxers every 8 weeks.

My MiL used to swear by drying them on the hedge in her back garden, in the sun.
I just used to check 'em out.

Do people still use handkerchiefs?
Give him a packet of tissues!

nansoval Wed 03-Feb-16 23:21:38

Glad this post is over. Got fed up reading about arses and urine staines.

NemosMum Thu 04-Feb-16 09:43:38

Buy black and tell him it's the new white. I've worn black undies for years because 2 washes and the white is a bluey-grey. Always looks like 'Someone's mum isn't using Persil', but Persil doesn't work either!

Haha, who remembers Nick Kamen in the 1985 Levis launderette advert.... WHITE boxers.....ok with me...❤️

No to washing men's handkerchiefs, my mom used to boil dads in a saucepan.♨️?

Blinko Thu 04-Feb-16 10:14:38

Vanish, in the pink container, soak first then 40deg. wash is fine.

When I was small I remember that once a month mum would wash our white knickers then put them in diluted bleach for a few hours then wash them again. They were always really white.

MIL has used a rubbing board with a bar of soap for the 45 years I have known her. All the grandchildren used to ask her to wash their white socks as they ended up whiter than white. DH used to say shirt collars never lasted long though!

I actually put my DH's white boxer shorts with my other whites washing using Napisan(for baby nappies). It is non bio and it claims to kill most germs even in 30 degrees C. I never mix even the palest cream colour garments in my whites and I do using the highest temperature washing as I have white towels and white beddings as well. You can find Napisan in Supermarkets shelves amongs the baby's stuff ie: Miltons baby bottles cleaner etc. I have heard praises from friends how white my T shirts and white jeans are. Hope this helps.

I’ve seen it on tele where women from far afield countries, do their washing using a wash stone and thwack the garments on it to wash them Believe they do not even use soap and their washing is sparkling clean. It’s a bit of a communal thing it seems.
This thread is going places.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 04-Feb-16 12:36:37

Well, I'm not going there. No way. hmm

Lemonlegs13 Thu 04-Feb-16 13:44:35
