following on from the thread about what small thing would make things better, what have you got recently which you couldn't now live without?

. . . my reach and grab stick, it helps me dust, grab my glasses, feed the dog, open the window, just a fantastic piece of kit for only a few pounds. smile

If you use hair products that contains silicone (Argan is one, but loads of others do too), it builds up so you should use a basic shampoo every now and then. Sometimes the advice is to use a clarifying shampoo, but these can be expensive and basically all you need is a shampoo with no silicone. wink

I recently bought a rigid seat belt extender, which saves me having to 'fish about' with arthritic hands to fasten my seatbelt.
It raises the 'receptacle' part by 8 inches, making life far easier, it's brilliant!

As long as I have my Kindle, I can face anything the future throws at me. I do feel rather feel guilty about contributing to the decline of the book publishing industry, though there is already a lifetime collection of real books in every room and under every bed in my home.

I have been using Avon Argan oil shampoo for a couple of years now and found it good. However I suddenly found my hair not behaving and I think it was too used to that particular shampoo so I am having a break, but do intend to go back to it.

I have exactly the same problem, which argon oil shampoo do you use?

Toastabags - put an ordinary cheese and ham sarnie in, put bag in toaster, two minutes later a delicious toastie pops up.
My electronic piano, sounds and behaves just like a grand piano and doesn't need tuning ( Father Chrustmas brought me that!). I can lose two hours playing it.
My remote control for the gas fire.
Underfloor heating. There is a small area without it, and every time I walk over it in bare feet I am thankful that I spent the extra money. It heats the whole house!
PV panels on my roof. They earned me a 9% tax free return last year and my leccy bill is £20/month cheaper too.
Fully paid up member of the iPad appreciation society too.

My iPad. (Hangs head in shame) well I could live without it, but I love it sooo much?

I like the remote control for the lights. Very cool.

My huge electric over blanket. Keeps me toastie warm, wrapped up watching TV at night, no need to switch on the portable heater (only got night storage heater). It has 6 different settings and turns itself off after 2 hours. A really good buy.

My new sewing machine, because it has an automatic threader device which makes it so much easier. It used to take me ages to thread my old sewing machine needle, eyes not being anything like what they were. I dreaded the thread snapping, or needing to change colour. Now it's a doddle! I really could not do without it.

My I-Pad as well - but also recently purchased an electric blanket which DH thinks is wonderful, I must admit I do too. Never imagined we would have one and have always poo pooed the idea, but it is great.

New hip!! and Kindle

Auntieflo Wed 10-Feb-16 11:24:26

Jing, I'm glad that I'm not the only one having trouble with my electric can opener. Sometimetimes it works first go, other times I keep having to reposition the can, but it does save my hands from struggling with the old fashioned one. By the way, has anyone seen the Youtube clip about opening a can by rubbing the seal on concrete? Perhaps I read about it on here hmm

grandMattie Wed 10-Feb-16 11:21:09

At the risk of sounding smug, I have lots of "stuff" I would prefer not to be without, buth they are all old (over 5/6 years) so don't count... grin
