mattress toppers

I'm looking to buy a mattress topper to firm up the mattress on our spare bed. D is a temporary long term occupant of the spare room and says the mattress is too soft.
Any recommendations and experiences of whether this will work, or do I need to replace the mattress ? thanks

Just noticed this thread as I have recently bought a topper - I was told that it is always more difficult to firm up a mattress if it is too soft - prob getting a new mattress was the best idea. Mine is for the opposite reason, I need to soften up one of our mattresses and went for this Topper if anyone else want to soften up their mattress I would be happy to recommend this one

We have put an unused duvet on top of our mattress. Absolutely perfect.
