We have lived in our house for 40 years and rented prior to buying. So we have never sold a house. Now we wish to move to be nearer our DD as we are both over 70. We put our house on the market 6 weeks ago. Our estate agent assured us that we were in a desirable area , good schools, shops, buses and easy access to the railway station. We were very hopeful of a quick sale. But although we have had a fair few viewings and two low offers we have not sold.
Is this normal?. Someone came to view on Sunday. He was very interested and said he would speak to the agent the next day. We have heard nothing.
Has any one got any suggestions? The agent says there have been no problems with the house highlighted in feedback.

Keeping all body parts crossed, bb. Have you seen something you like?

Yes loads. *getting on*Houses in that part of Wales are often on the market for ages so we are going to wait until we are with our DD and then plunge in. As we will be cash buyers we might get a bargain.
DH needs a shed and I want a log burner,

Ooh...I'd love to ask which part of Wales....but I'm not that nosy....--much--.

I'm guessing rural-ish though, and South West.

My daughter lives near Kidwelly, so anywhere in a triangle Tenby to Camarthen to Swansea is where we shall be looking. Near the sea would be good.

I don't believe anything about Brexit causing lower house prices, it's an excuse used by estate agents to get you to drop the price a bit, making it easier for them to sell.Having bought and sold a lot of houses, agents are always looking for a way to do this as it makes their lives easier.Obviously, if there is high demand in a certain area then a house will always sell without much effort on your part, but where there is plenty on offer, you have to dress the house to make it look inviting, and clear out a lot of personal stuff.
We never bothered to do this years ago ( or expected anyone else to) but it's the done thing now.

Well we sold in 8 weeks despite Brexit. Our estate agent said there was a little slowing down but not much

Good luck with your move, BBbevan. We have just come back from Pembrokeshire and it's always a wrench to come home! I envy you.
