Cleaning a wall with a black mould tomorrow . I'm planning to scrub it first with Borax then wash it again with a bleach solution to kill the spores . Any other safe ideas ?

Dettol Mould and Mildew Remover works well on my bath sealant.

I agree with Wobblybits, HG mould spray works well. I got it from B and q

For flats we have a device which prevents mould. It pumps air into the flat and when a door or window is opened the air rushes out and takes mould spores with it. We are not aware of the process. You can get the units at builders wholesalers but they need fitting. We have recouped the price by not having to redecorate annually.

I don't know whether you mean Envirovent but they are brilliant at getting rid of moisture. Would thoroughly recommend them

Def make sure that you have sufficient ventilation when working with any chemicals......DH ended up in A & E with anaphylactic shock after mixing weedkiller in the garage. He was starting to look like Mick Jagger by the time I got him there.

Sorry westerlywind but this is a thread about mould removal- I am afraid that you cannot butt in with a different subject, you will have to start a new thread.

Ok. I would never want to butt in. What is was thinking was about the mould and is there a full and final cure.
I am sorry about the rambling on. I am a bit up to high Doh.
I will try to change that.
Sorry Ladies

Willow500 Thanks for recommending CILLIT BANG for black mould. I love my shower again, without having to get down on my knees and scrub!

Very weak bleach solution should also work as preventative.

I agree with the recommendations for HG. I think what is important though is to leave it on for the whole day-the longer you leave it the more effective it will be.

Also make sure your room is well ventilated before, during and after. Fir a whole wall I would wear a mask as I'm allergic to the mould spores.

In addition mould doesn't grow in well ventilated areas- so keep all internal doors open, even a little bit and open windows at least once a day. This helps the moisture escape and not settle in one place. Also, don't put anything against the wall- always make sure there is room for air to circulate so leave a gap, again, even a small one will help.
