Vacuum Cleaners

I have had a Dyson animal for many years along with my dogs. It has been brilliant as long as you clean both filters (including the hidden one over the motor) and replace them after a couple of years.
It is heavy but I lend it out to the rest of my family as it is better than all of their new flashy cordless models for pet hairs. I even dare have a cream carpet in my hall.

I am with Deeeana1 on this, after 38 years of henrys and dysons, owning at present 4 cats and 1 hairy dog the meile wins hands down.

I'd had my fill of Dysons due to them just always falling down and clonking my ankles. Also I felt that the power eventually goes out of them. I ordered a Sebo, on recommendation of our trusted electrician and I so wanted to be impressed but we're not unfortunately. There doesn't seem to be the power there either for suction, it falls down a lot too and I really didn't like the smell coming from the bag til we bought some pellet things to go inside. I think I will try Miele next time. I'm not hard to please but not been satisfied with Dyson/Sebo so far.

I have had 3 Dyson Animal & returned them all.
Sebo Pet is absolutely brilliant.Copes with dog hair & 3 long haired cat hair & never falters- so easy to empty too. I've had it 5 years & I am still delighted with it.
If it is good enough for the Queen It is good enough for me.
Cheaper than Dyson too.

After over a decade my beloved Dyson gave up the ghost and I reluctantly took advantage of a John Lewis trade in offer (£80 off) to buy a new Dyson Animal. To my delight it was even better and cleans every type of floor and right up to the edge as well.

It is a bit heavy for heaving upstairs so I have been toying with the idea of the Dyson cordless V8 Animal. My friend has the V6 and says it's excellent but the V8 goes for longer on one charge and has a bigger dust compartment.

The price is putting me off, however. Nearly £400 for a vacuum cleaner is toppy even with the current John Lewis trade in offer.

Found the Dyson animal fantastic Light enough to whiz through things and most effective.... that is when new.The battery did not seem to last very long and on ringing Dyson it seemed to cost a good proportion of the new price to buy a battery to patch up the 'old'machine...
so bought another Dyson and found that battery did not last particularly long either ( c 2 years)
Although not as light or convenient, my 10 + yo Miele cyliner has just trundled on, now looking very battered but doing its excellent best
Would like another rechargeable one for convenience but WHAT?

Henry. No gimmicks. Just does the job. No contest.

I hated my Dyson. Must have too heavy. The Henry, which we now have, seems to be the most popular round here and the most robust. Used by many office cleaners too

I'm definitely a Dyson fan. I've used a Henry, but it didn't do the job like my Dyson, nothing like as strong. Now about to invest in a Dyson cordless after using one for church and playgroup room cleaning. It is ace, really light, and even reaches the high-up church windowsills and probably eats a lot of very ancient stonework in the process

I had a Dyson some years ago. I hated it and got rid of it fairly quickly. I have a Henry who is great on hard flooring and a Miele cat& dog upright who is not behaving well and needs attention and is driving me mad; it is also very heavy so, as I am about to downsize and will have fewer carpets, on Wednesday I took the plunge and ordered a Gtech AirRam along with a Multi - not cheap. (I had swithered between GTech and Sebo). They arrived in less than 24 hours and I managed without resorting to the gin bottle, to assemble them. Best thing since sliced bread - so far so good, although I shall reserve 100% judgement until I have used them for a week or so.

Gtech cordless is the best thing we have ever bought. I never thought I would be happy to clean but it really is a pleasure to use. Light but efficient & DH loves using it too!

Our twelve year old Miele Animal is still going strong, but since we bought a Dyson cordless stick (V6) six months ago, I haven't used the Miele except for one DIY clean up. The Dyson is so light and convenient. It can't do whole house on one charge though.

I love my animal too use nothing else, but you can only vacuum a short time, the battery soon needs re-charging, so I do my vacuuming in two lots. i.e. upstairs and downstairs separately which works a treat. so easy to empty too.

We have animals, and always use a Dyson upright. They are really good for pet hair [long or short]

re recent post about vacuum, I should have added that my Dyson is probably 10 years old, but spare parts are readily available should they be required, and they are easy to replace the part yourself.

As a gold medal winner of vacuuming, ??, I have a Miele cat and dog which is excellent but hardly ever gets used now as my newish best friend (!!) is a Vax Air cordless. It's wonderful, light and easy to use. It came with two rechargeable batteries so I always have one ready. It's great on all surfaces, carpet, laminate and tiles.
I highly recommend it.

i wouldn't be without my hoover! it's got an attachment especially for pet hair as well as the usual ones. i've owned this particular one for getting on for 10 years now and i love it.

I have a Hoover Freedom cordless. I love it. It is light weight and easy to use and empty. I bought it half price from Argos a few weeks ago.

Another vote for miele cat a d dog picks up everything . I have used Hernysfor work and hate them them .

My husband bought me a Dyson V8 Absolute in December, I asked for it as my birthday present, as my original Dyson upright was too heavy to use. I love it it's so handy just to get it out do a quick vacuum and then put it back in the cupboard, back on charge ready for the next time. Incidentally, my husband didn't buy me the cleaner for my birthday as he didn't want me to tell people that he'd bought me a cleaner for my birthday even though I had asked for it. He bought me a new eternity ring to replace my original that was 33 years old and getting very thin. I'm a very lucky lady. Sorry too much info, I fear.

Have recently bought a GTech Air Ram cordless.
Am so glad I have this. It's wonderfully light to push around and take upstairs.
My old Dyson was too heavy and cumbersome.

Iit lights up on the front when switched on so you can see dust etc.
The battery lasts for ages.
Have also purchased the hand held model.
Very useful with attachments for hoovering car etc.
