Abandoned Shopping Trolleys!

I suppose it might get worse as well, because not all the trolleys have been adapted for the new pound coins, so don't need to be slotted together as they did when they needed a pound deposit.

You and me too, Norose. It irritates me that shoppers cannot spend one or two seconds more, just to push the trolleys together. I had also thought that they could give us, of the tidy mind, a very part time job.

Its mainly a problem in the supermarkets which don't require coins, which is probably why shoppers can't be bothered & give them a half hearted shove in the vague direction of the park grh grh

Yes eventually. but the poor guy (its usually a guy)has to herd them into some kind of order before he gets chance to lasso them & get them back to the main entrance , ... where I have to say shoppers behave a bit better & sort of shove them almost in the correct place !

But if everyone put their trolleys back the poor chap wouldn't have a job. Our chap is special needs and is so conscientious.

Tough call????

About 20 years ago I parked outside a large branch of Tesco and went inside. One hour later I returned to my car to find the driver's door handle was smashed and there was a long vertical dent in the door. A further similar dent was in the passenger's door behind the driver's door. Two trollies had come to rest a short distance away from my car and it was a windy day.
To cut a long story short I boycotted Tesco for 6 months whilst they argued who was responsible and would pay the £400 repair bill. On taking legal advice I was told to threaten the small claims court as I would have won my case and Tesco eventually paid up.
I hate abandoned shopping trollies and people who are too bone idle to put the trolley away.

Wow Chocalatepudding what an awful experience, &all because shoppers won't spend that extra couple of seconds to put them properly in the trolley park grh !!

I was angry about the damage to my car as I couldn't use the driver's door for 6 months. Also every letter I sent to Tesco's insurance department took at least 3 weeks to get a reply.

How awful for you & that these big companies can drag their heels when it suits them.!!! On a lighter note , I just knew trolleys had a life of their own, I'm not going to turn my back on them that's for sure ???

It's the people who can't even be bothered to aim the trolley in the general direction of the park that really wind me up. They unload and leave the darn thing exactly where they stopped it. Thus blocking the parking space.

Exactly Nina , it's obviously the same around the country. it's so selfish, thoughtless & anti social , in my opinion. But at least now I don't feel like a lone grumpy whinging old bat ,thanks to Gransnetters who feel the same ?

We have quite a large shopping centre and people abandon Sainsburys's trolleys all over the place as they do not require a coin. I find myself feeling obliged to use the odd man out ( ie Sainsbury's trolley in M&S ) and then carting it back over the other side . Then back to the car. I hate myself sometimes.

I walk around my village each morning, often near Asda on the outskirts, and I should think on average once a week I find a trolley on the roadside anywhere within a three mile radius. I trundle them back to the shop.

When I was working, a colleague accused me of being obsessed with working neatly, then said 'I bet you even tidy the trolleys at the supermarket'. I think of this every time I find myself doing just that!

By the way, for anyone who is interested, it says on the internet that the coin slotted trolleys which have been converted will take both old and new £s, also will still accept the circular tokens which many of us use. Obviously the unconverted will not take the new £1 coins.

The Waitrose store here has a notice that says that trolleys taken beyond the boundaries of the store and car park will stop moving. I've never tested this! I have never seen a Waitrose trolley abandoned around here. There are plenty of trolley parks and no-one has to round up trolleys left in the wrong places.
