How do I clean this pan?

I made egg muffins this morning in bid to be healthy (see where I went wrong).
I greased my muffin tray very well but even so the egg has adhered to it like glue. I had to cut them all out and although the pan has been soaking since breakfast time the stuff isn't budging. Any tips?

Egg is like cement when it's cooked on. If you've cut away the excess egg then I think that it will just take a much longer steeping to get it all softened.

In a situation like this I'd put the muffin tray into a bigger container, a bucket or a basin. Start with warm water and washing up liquid and set it aside until at least tomorrow. Let time do the work.

My favourite spot in underneath the summer bench at the kitchen door.

Try washing soda and soak for at least 2 days!

Next time could I suggest using paper muffin cases

WHAT NEXT TIME? I hear you shout!

Squirt it with neat oven cleaner and leave for a few hours.

I have also read (in a woman's magazine, years ago) that leaving it upside down on the lawn overnight loosens it all. Haven't tried that, though. (Perhaps some little animals eat at it when you're not looking)

Upside on the lawn smile Perhaps it's the action of the morning dew. ??

Put in a plastic bag, put plastic bag in bin, buy new tin grin

ps shock no, no, the plastic bag needs to go into one recycling bag, the tin in another!!

Jalima1108 Fri 12-May-17 12:06:04

and the stuck-on food into the food recycling after scraping off with a chisel.

So glad I asked... grin. Right, off to find a chisel, some oven cleaner and morning dew.

2 days, Jane?!

Yes, Jalima, I think that's what I should have done. Even now, I live and learn...

I have tried the morning dew trick, it didnt work ! try boiling it in water and vinegar of less smelly, fairy platinum washing up liquid

Astonish (I buy it in Wilkinsons) with a green scouring pad is the best product for removing any stuck on baked stuff.

Have you tried soda crystals in each muffin dip and boiling water poured over? Or just immerse the whole tray in a strong solution of hot water with soda crystals if you have a container big enough.

Soak it in Biological washing powder solution , I stopped using Biological washing powder for clothes when I saw what it did to a burnt saucepan!!

Coolgran65 Fri 12-May-17 14:00:38

LyndaW You are off to find some morning dew.

I've known that to be code for 'poteen'..... enjoy smile

Another advocate of soda crystals here! Very hot water, crystals and a squirt of washing up liquid, leave to soak.

M0nica Fri 12-May-17 21:16:02

With ordinary scrambled eggs stuck to a pan I soak overnight with washing up liquid and then scrape with a dinner knife, blade very flat against the side of the burnt receptacle.

Put hot water in the pan and add a diswasher tablet - wait - Voila.

Excellent advice! ?

MinniesMum Sat 13-May-17 09:35:32

Put some Ariel bio powder in a jug, whisk in warm water, pour over tin and leave for about 6 hours or overnight. Squeaky clean.

damewithaname Sat 13-May-17 09:38:48

Hot water from the kettle, washing up soap and SALT!

HazelGreen Sat 13-May-17 09:40:23

Treat yourself to a silicone muffin baker.

marpau Sat 13-May-17 09:50:13

Try soaking in washing powder bold or Ariel particularly good

EmilyHarburn Sat 13-May-17 09:51:23

Use diswasher powder. I leave it on over night damp and then get boiling kettle and put a thin layer of water on in the morning then and hour later rub with scrubbing brush, green buffalo cloth, or if not a non stick surface wire wool.
