How to clean a tv screen?

I've just noticed some grot on the tv screen (shouldn't have put my glasses on!)
I'm ashamed to say I've never really cleaned the screen before, so I'm not sure how to do it. I remember grandson getting into trouble for cleaning too heavily and blurring a tiny piece of the picture due to damaging the screen.

I’ve only ever used warm water and washing up liquid, and a tightly squeezed-out cloth. Do all my dusting this way (unless visitors are expected when I squirt about a bit of Pledge for effect!) ?

Matriark - I like it

I clean all m screens with iSol. It's an aerosol spray that was recommended to me. Bought on Amazon, comes with a soft cloth.

Just looked at my tv screen, it needs a bit of a clean but confused now as dont want to do any damage. My glasses are like yours miss a always dirty, people cant believe i can actually see anything, but i can. Sort of. Must do better.

I just use Mr Sheen, or whatever is the Asda equivalent, same as I use on mirrors and glass topped side tables. Works fine and it never occurred to me that I should buy anything else!

I only use a feather duster. Seems to be OK.

I do use a bit of screen cleaner spray, sprayed lightly onto a microfibre cloth though, not dotting onto the screen

Micro fibre cloth from the £1 Shop car section does a great job on my wall tv

I got some screen cleaner fron asda for £4. It seems to work ok but my boss says just to use a little white vineagar on a damp cloth. Both work

As far as glasses are concerned, dip them in a bowl of clean washing-up water, and polish with a cotton or microfibre cloth smile

There are sprays on the market that you can use on all laptop, tablet, phone and t v screens. Allegedly anti static.
I also use the same on my specs which certainly brightens up my views if not my impressionhmm of the world.

Face wipes 60p for 25 at Tesco, use for all screens, also for small marks on fabric - and for cleaning makeup of course! I was given this tip by cashier at PC World when I bought some pricey screen wipes - that weren’t very efficient!

I use a slightly damp microfibre cloth for this, don,t use anything but water on the cloth.

Some TVs have specially treated screens which should only be cleaned with a dry microfibre cloth.
Ours is a Panasonic Oled and doesn't seem to get finger marked from DGS. The screen is fairly matte anyway so perhaps it's filthy but doesn't show!
It's an idea to check with the manufacturers, imagine ruining the screen of a £2000 TV by using the wrong cleaner! angry

I’ve tried a few different products and the best by far are Pledge Electronics wipes - got them in Asda. They are the only ones I’ve found that don’t leave smears. I don’t use them very often, in between I dust with a micro fibre cloth.

This reminds me of my DD1. Her husband bought a new tv and it came with its own microfibre cloth. DD1 cleaned the screen with it every week. After a couple of months her DH announced that this tv never seemed to get dusty! I think she nearly hit him with the cloth.

Distilled water.

And microfibre cloth

Saggi Fri 15-Dec-17 12:51:53

Clean damp cloth. Followed by clean dry tissue! Perfick!

grandtanteJE65 Fri 15-Dec-17 13:06:52

I use the same spray I use for cleaning windows and mirrors, both on the TV and our laptops. They have to be turned off when you clean them, and don't rub hard.

Dust is best removed with a dry microfiber cloth

Baby wipes do the job nicely.

Auntieflo Fri 15-Dec-17 15:01:59

I dusted ours this morning.???

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 15-Dec-17 15:16:16

I use the soft brush of the vacuum cleaner and an occasional wipe with a microfibre cloth - nothing else.

Cubagran Fri 15-Dec-17 16:31:46

Damp microfibre cloth does the trick. Use it for windows as well with a water spray.

Eglantine21 I love the idea of widow cleaning wipes! (I know it’s the dratted predictive text)
