Kitchen cupboards

I may be over sensitive on this subject but it annoys me immensely...........of all the men I have worked with and the two that I have lived with not one of them has ever been able to open a kitchen cupboard and find anything! If it's not perched at the front of the shelf it's not in there according to the men! Come on guys, move things around a bit and look properly before closing said cupboard door and declaring defeat!

My husband will do the wiping up when it suits him but can;t put anything away as he doesn't know where it goes!

I haven't RTWH but I read somewhere that if a man is for example looking in the fridge for butter he expects to see it at eye-level with an enormous label saying BUTTER right in front of him or it's invisible!
All these comments prove it, don't they?
It's as though the house is largely run by the wife and the husband is just lodging there.

Seems to me all our mere males are the same...good to know that as I use to think it was mine only that was like that...

Reading through these posts, I now know that DH has a bit of everything mentioned. But, I am so glad he is not perfect, how on earth would I manage, being not quite so perfect myself, although.....

H1954.... it's simply called Bloke Looking!
All the men I've ever known have been unable to find ANYTHING even when it's right in front of their nose, it's just a huge joke as far as I'm concerned now!wink

Can husbands find what they want in their chaotic workshop?
Or mancave?

This Summer, Dd asked me would I ask the teacher if I could look for Jacob's school jumpers as he'd literally lost three of them in a week.
The teaching assistant told me that she'd put them all in the lost property box in the classroom.
She'd actually seen him, take it off, swing it over his head and let it go.
She rolled her eyes and said that he would make someone a wonderful husband.

One such 'unable to find'. episode of dh has turned into a family joke.
He went off to a huge supermarket with a list of just a few things to get, one of which was loo cleaner (Harpic or any, I wasn't fussy.)

Came back saying they didn't have any loo cleaner. At all. None. In a huge supermarket.

Me: 'Of course they did! You just didn't look properly.'
Him, all hurt. 'I did look properly! They didn't!' He swore blind that it was not a case of his inability to find anything not very clearly labelled and right at his eye level.

He had bought Cif, instead. ?

After that, if there's anything he can't find in a supermarket, he asks an assistant. I think he often asks first, to save any looking at all. But at least it means no repeat of the loo cleaner debacle/joke.

Which reminds me, shop assistants can't be relied on, either - even female ones.
Was in my local Asda, queueing at the checkout, when I heard an elderly-ish man (probably about my age ?) asking where the Dijon mustard was.
Assistant, looking slightly nonplussed: 'Oh, we don't stock it any more.'

I thought that was weird, so made a detour to the condiments aisle and there, right at eye level too, were 3 different kinds of Dijon mustard.
Went back to the bloke and showed him.

I suspect that either the assistant couldn't be bothered, or perhaps had never heard of Dijon mustard and so assumed they didn't have it.

Men are not "from Mars" as the popular book would have us believe. It has been shown that there is very little difference between the brains of the sexes. It must therefore follow that if men behave this way it is because it suits them, not because of fundamental differences?

Just described this (very funny) thread to H. H wanted me to tell you that I enjoy hiding things from him on purpose and that I then plant them in place after the fact, just to drive him crazy!" grin
