Karcher Hard Floor Cleaner

Wondered if any one out there has one of these and if so, is it worth the money? Our large kitchen extension has a tiled floor which seems to be always dirty due to dogs and grandchildren. Mopping takes ages to dry and my steam cleaner was a bad buy since the pads fall off and I can’t now find replacements. Have read mainly positive reviews of the Karcher although one or two bad ones saying it’s very heavy and that it doesn’t clean as well as claimed.

I’ve got a Karcher cleaner - I find it’s great on my laminate and my vinyl floor. I don’t find it particularly heavy and the cleaning pad clips onto the attachment and can’t fall off. It’s also got a smaller head that’s great on bathroom tiles. I love it.

I got a steam cleaner free when I bought a Shark vacuum.
It is really good, lightweight and easy to use. They are very good at stocking spares, too. Worth a try. I would buy another if this one ever gives up.

I don't know anything about the Karcher ones, but I've got this one

It cleans the floor well enough. Leaves it a bit on the wet side. So I go over it with a clean cloth under my foot if I want it to dry quicker.

I have a Karcher Hard Floor Cleaner. It’s idiot proof and brings my Karndene floors up beautifully. Likewise the tiles in the bathrooms.

Would definitely recommend. I find it a little heavy to lug upstairs but manage.

PS they are dry in about 10 minutes

I have just my account 'orders' on John Lewis. I paid £169 for my robotjet. It's £249 now! And it wasn't a special offer or anything. Not sure I would buy it at this current price.

I have had a Karcher for about 6 years. I use it 2 or 3 times a week in my kitchen and bathroom, Unfortunately over the years the large head has developed a problem and no longer stays connected, just falls off. I use the small head all the time but the cloth is worn out. I still wash it and keep it going. You can buy replacements but being of Scottish descent I prefer to wait until its no longer functional. .

I brought a steam cleaner what works best for me because I can't carry anything heavy. I do it and put the pads in while I am doing my washing comes clean every time.

I can't manage anything heavy now. Hence the little robot.

Thanks for the response, think I will be having another look at the Karcher. pce612 my steam cleaner is a Shark. I'm onto my second set of pads and the velcro fasteners are once again useless and the pads slide off in use. I e-mailed them about the problem and got no response. On their website it appears my model is no longer made so I can't buy any more pads. They were about £10 a set so not cheap. So annoying!

Does anyone know if the Karcher is suitable for Amtico Flooring?

Jane43 Sat 16-Mar-19 11:02:49

I don’t have the Karcher but I do have the Bissell Crosswave. It is amazing and can be used on hard floors or carpet. The main advantage is it vacuums at the same time as cleaning so you don’t have to sweep the floor first.

I use it on ceramic tiles in the kitchen, bathroom, hall and en suite, laminate in the dining room and heavy traffic areas in the front room.

The only disadvantages are it is quite noisy and the cleaning fluid is quite pricey but I got some from Bissell on a three for two offer.

This is the one:

We were advised not to use a steam cleaner on our Karndean floor as the heat can melt the glue underneath, I imagine the same applies to Amtico Pagzy. Shame because I really liked using my Bissell one on ceramic tiles in our previous house.
Anja, how long have you been using it on Karndean?

Ksing Sat 16-Mar-19 11:32:21

I also have a Karcger hard floor cleaner. This vacuums small pieces of dust and flu and can get right up to the corners of the room! Only disadvantage I find is, you cannot get under furniture eg low table. It is a wee bit fiddly in tgatyou have to dampen the roller pads before using and then run water throughout the machine when finished, but my goodness, the colour of the water!? We take our shoes off in the house also!

Pagzy Sat 16-Mar-19 12:34:56

Thanks Peardrop50 you gave confirmed my fears!

Pagzy Sat 16-Mar-19 12:39:33

However I don't think the Karcher hard floor cleaner is a steam cleaner so that's why I wondered if it might be OK for Amtico.

Anja Sat 16-Mar-19 12:39:44

The Karcher Hard Floor Cleaner is NOT a steam cleaner.

If if is suitable for Karndene it should be suitable for Amtico.

Caro57 Sat 16-Mar-19 14:07:20

I did read of someone having a robot vacuum which worked overnight - unfortunately the dog had an accident after they had retired to bed; it (the accident) was spread all over the floor.............

Pagzy Sat 16-Mar-19 14:48:44

Thanks Anja I am considering buying one later today

I have a Karcher hard floor cleaner and love it. It is much better than the Vax steam cleaner I also have. It leaves the floors almost dry and does a better job of cleaning because it ‘vacs’ up the water as it cleans. Mine stopped working properly after 17 months but, as I bought it from John Lewis, it had a two year guarantee. Took it back last week and they gave me a new one without any quibble. The only thing I find difficult is the fact that you have to keep the button pressed down for it to work. I have arthritic thumbs and sometimes this can be a bit uncomfortable.

Pagzy Sat 16-Mar-19 18:59:26

Bought it today and used it on my Amtico kitchen floor Found the instruction booklet hard to read but the appliance was very easy to use. I didn't need to keep the on off button pressed down.It is just a press for on and press for off. I won't be happy if it stops working after 17 months though!
