Walk in shower n colours. Small bathroom

I like the way those cupboards are set in, Harri; storage is always a problem in a bathroom.

We refurbished a bungalow last year and these are the main bathroom and en-suite - both done with wall boarding rather than tiles. I love them both - I have the black sparkle board in my bathroom at home too.

If I make my hoped-for move to a flat in a few months time, my first job there will be to have the largish shower in the bathroom taken out and replaced with a bath (as would have been there in the first place).
As there is a small shower in the en-suite and I really do need to have a bath for medical reasons, this is pretty important to me.
Must say, I had never heard of boards in bathroom and was only thinking about tiles as usual. I know so many people take out baths and replace them with showers, but I am sure that this is not something which everybody wants.
What about families with small children? Bathtime is so much more than just about getting clean and refreshed.
There are many aids which can assist someone with mobility problems to get in/out of a bath, and one company actually makes a normal type bath, with an opening door which enables it to become a walk-in shower.
Wonder how long it will be before bathroom designers will decide to try to persuade people to take out their showers and replace them with baths|!!!!!

I miss the bath as well GreyD, but as I couldn`t get in or out of it, it made sense to have it removed. I so long for a lovely, long soak!

Well after 22 years of white (and lots of different colours for accessories) I am thoroughly bored. I think the grey/ cream/ beige options wouldn't cheer things up or alleviate the boredom so it's out with the bath and in with a spacious shower plus sky blue with white tiles and yet-to-be-decided flooring!
Work should start on 15th!

Someone else made the point of young families needing baths as well as showers. DD took out lovely walk in shower and replaced with P shaped bath and power shower with rainfall and normal heads for just that reason. Babies, toddlers and young mothers need baths for various reasons. ?

Oddly enough, Callgirl, in six years I only used the bath in this house once! We used it for GS when he was younger, but as soon as it had gone, my set of newly acquired aches and pains cried out for it! Perverse or what? I would struggle to get out of it now. I do love my new shower though, and the hand attachment is very useful.

Hoping to pick up some ideas from this thread. I have inherited a tiny, dated bathroom and have spent weeks, nay months, trying to come to a decision. If I put in a separate shower it would have to be of the 'telephone box' variety which I can't stand - too claustrophobic.. I need a bath and am reluctantly coming round to the idea of a Pshaped one with shower over. In addition, there are combed ceilings on 2 sides and a window which at present is protected by a shower curtain (the kind which wraps itself round your a**e as soon as the shower is on ?) so height is a problem....Wish I'd taken more notice before I bought the place! My colour scheme is white/pale turquoise blue so will change the existing white tiles for blue.
(DDs think I should lose the bath & have a big walk in shower as I'm 'not getting any younger' hrrmph)

Sorry to disagree with some previous posters, but I would stick with "safe" colours for the expensive stuff, tiles etc, if the room is big enough, leave one wall untiled/paneled so that you can emulsion it in whatever colour you fancy, then go as wild as you like with towels & other bathroom things.

You all have been brilliant with your replies. I’m really grateful. I think I’m going with a light grey all over or a darker long feature wall at the back off the shower and white with a speck in for the rest of the walls. Link/cushion flooring colour. I’m not sure??? I’m off to a showroom today to see this panelling for real.

This is ours small square. we managed to fit a small bath along window. Its beige tiles different ones on floor. I prefer neutral and can change towels and mats. If I was doing it now it would be grey/white.

We're just about to tile all the walls in the bathroom and ensuite in our new build. They're not big rooms. Both will have plain white tiles (ripple effect) but I'm putting in two borders of mosaics. see images.

We were thinking of the panels but know two who have done and now having problems. Water getting under them. But know others that are happy. I like the look of tiles.

Send for loads of samples. It's very reasonable and the first few are free. This is a very well known on-line tile company.

Both our rooms are dark (small windows) but we have put downlights in.

Meant to add. We are putting in a 1200x900 shower cubical - quadrant. Plenty of room. Slate floor.

This is our walk-in shower. I kept it light so it looked spacious. The tiles are white and grey with a silver streak.
