Yes I’m a southern softy but I put an extra jumper on and it’s still freezing so on goes the heating. Bliss!
Anyone else admitting to this ?

Yes, It's that time of the year! Yesterday was miserably rainy and cold. Today cool again, but clear and sunny. It's about 9:40 AM here on the East Coast USA and in our area will likely warm up a bit later. We haven't turned on the main heater but we do have a cozy little electric stove going. It warms up our sitting room very nicely!

Yes, ours is on. OH is so nesh ?and feels the cold at the slightest drop in temperature. However, I have a sinus infection and a raised temperature and would dearly love to turn the thermostat down and open the windows ??

Yes, I switched mine on a couple of days ago. I live with my son who does not feel the cold so we sometimes have the situation where I have the heating on and he sits beside an electric fan. However, on Wednesday, I was cold so I put on a cardigan but was still cold so I switched on the heating on low just to take the chill of the air. Miracle of miracles, my son walked in and said, "It's a bit chilly in here". You would not believe how quickly I jumped up to turn the heating up.

I’ve popped my heating back on as well as a oil radiator in my bedroom where I’m sorting laundry! I couldn’t wait for the heating to warm the house.

Although woodlands and heathland do have to be cleared. Managed.

I burn coffee logs on my woodburner. Give out great heat.

Gonegirl Fri 04-Oct-19 12:54:49

Turned mine up to 22.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 04-Oct-19 12:50:37

The recommended temperature for the older person is 21c.

If you think about it, when it gets to about 15c outdoors I then usually put a light coat on and not sitting, but walking etc.

So I think that 15c isn’t warm enough.

Ours is always at 21c. All day off at night.

Our bill isn’t high imo. Dual fuel bill is approx £91pm

Mines just gone on I live with an elderly lady and I don't want for her to get cold

Anthea1948 Fri 04-Oct-19 12:43:49

One thing I can't stand is being cold. I have a compromised immune system, which doesn't help, so my heating stays on all year, set to 15°, just in case we have a sudden cold snap. But now it's up at 17° during the day and I'm still cold, even with my winter woolies on! And I know it's going to get so much colder ...

Saggi Fri 04-Oct-19 12:42:00

This morning.... even with big Woolley cardie on I was cold-ish!

newnanny Fri 04-Oct-19 12:32:26

I switched heating on yesterday morning as felt cold. I never have it on overnight as upsets my asthma but it is on at 7am this morning.

Ceaser15 Fri 04-Oct-19 12:26:36

Yes, put my heating on yesterday. Unfortunately my DH has cancer is is always cold these days. Also have gas fire in lounge on for when we settle dow;to watch TV. Truly hope we don’t get that threatened Beast from the East next year.

Craftycat Fri 04-Oct-19 12:26:24

Yes- we gave in last night. The cats ( who have radiator beds in the sitting room) were delighted!
It is much warmer today so hopefully we will not need it tonight. I got the duvets out too as we have been sleeping under a thin summer cover until yesterday.

Mercedes55 Fri 04-Oct-19 12:17:54

We've got our thermostat set to 17c at the moment so it's come on the last couple of mornings. Yesterday it was 2c just outside London, which is pretty chilly!
Still have out 2.5 tog duvet on the bed, might need to put the Winter one on soon wink

Gabriella, always sleep with window open, at least partly- in any weather- and up her in t'mountains, it gets VERY parky.

jura2 Fri 04-Oct-19 12:05:57

whywhywhy you are in MH? We will be there soon.

SheilaMary2222 Fri 04-Oct-19 12:03:45

Turned heating on for first time yesterday evening, also changed duvet to winter one. Definite chill in the air, even the cat is coming indoors now.

I’ve just put mine on for a few minutes -first time since last winter,,Luckily am able to switch it on and off at the wall ,so don’t have to waste electricity whilst out. I am a hardy Northerner and don’t seem to feel the cold as much as my best friend ,who grew up in the big city.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 04-Oct-19 11:58:47

I've put the heating on intermittently over the last week or so. My small new build can get too warm which sends me to sleep so I'd rather not overdo it. I put on extra layers of clothing before I operate the CH.

Doreen5 Fri 04-Oct-19 11:53:45

No heating on yet but lit the wood burner last night.

Happysexagenarian Fri 04-Oct-19 11:41:10

No not yet. Still wearing sleeveless tops and sandals here on the south coast, with windows and patio doors open all day. It now gets a tad chilly after dark so we put our electric blanket on about 11.30 to get into a nice cosy bed. Our heating never comes on automatically, its solid fuel, so we have to light the boiler each morning. It then takes a couple of hours for the radiators to warm up. We usually start using it early November through to April.

Lots of trees being cut down for log-burners.
Climate change and associated resolutions go out of the window when it suits.

CrazyGrandma2 Fri 04-Oct-19 11:35:42

Throughout the summer, half hour in the morning to ensure dry towels in the bathroom. We did succumb to a quick blast yesterday as the house was so cold even when wrapped up! I guess autumn has arrived.

GabriellaG54 Fri 04-Oct-19 11:33:16

No. I even have my bedroom window open halfway at night, unless it's teeming.
