Yes I’m a southern softy but I put an extra jumper on and it’s still freezing so on goes the heating. Bliss!
Anyone else admitting to this ?

This morning.... even with big Woolley cardie on I was cold-ish!

Anthea1948 Fri 04-Oct-19 12:43:49

One thing I can't stand is being cold. I have a compromised immune system, which doesn't help, so my heating stays on all year, set to 15°, just in case we have a sudden cold snap. But now it's up at 17° during the day and I'm still cold, even with my winter woolies on! And I know it's going to get so much colder ...

Mines just gone on I live with an elderly lady and I don't want for her to get cold

Whitewavemark2 Fri 04-Oct-19 12:50:37

The recommended temperature for the older person is 21c.

If you think about it, when it gets to about 15c outdoors I then usually put a light coat on and not sitting, but walking etc.

So I think that 15c isn’t warm enough.

Ours is always at 21c. All day off at night.

Our bill isn’t high imo. Dual fuel bill is approx £91pm

Turned mine up to 22.

I burn coffee logs on my woodburner. Give out great heat.

Gonegirl Fri 04-Oct-19 12:58:13

Although woodlands and heathland do have to be cleared. Managed.

I’ve popped my heating back on as well as a oil radiator in my bedroom where I’m sorting laundry! I couldn’t wait for the heating to warm the house.

Yes, I switched mine on a couple of days ago. I live with my son who does not feel the cold so we sometimes have the situation where I have the heating on and he sits beside an electric fan. However, on Wednesday, I was cold so I put on a cardigan but was still cold so I switched on the heating on low just to take the chill of the air. Miracle of miracles, my son walked in and said, "It's a bit chilly in here". You would not believe how quickly I jumped up to turn the heating up.

Yes, ours is on. OH is so nesh ?and feels the cold at the slightest drop in temperature. However, I have a sinus infection and a raised temperature and would dearly love to turn the thermostat down and open the windows ??

Yes, It's that time of the year! Yesterday was miserably rainy and cold. Today cool again, but clear and sunny. It's about 9:40 AM here on the East Coast USA and in our area will likely warm up a bit later. We haven't turned on the main heater but we do have a cozy little electric stove going. It warms up our sitting room very nicely!

WOODMOUSE49 Fri 04-Oct-19 14:59:43

Logs on the wood burner - evenings only at the moment.

grandtanteJE65 Fri 04-Oct-19 15:11:54

Yes, our heating is on, and the winter eiderdowns are on the bed.

Just cleaned gardening tools and brought them all inside too.

Water to the garden tap will be turned off later today, as frost is forecast.

Barmeyoldbat Fri 04-Oct-19 15:39:31

Yes wood burner lit most days, about mid afternoon.

My husband has Dementia and Parkinson’s, and, like many Dementia sufferers, he really feels the cold, so yes our heating is on. He’ll often sit with an Alpaca throw over his legs as well!
Although I don’t like feeling cold there are times when I open the sitting room door and beat a hasty retreat to the kitchen as I can open the back door to cool down.

Yes, weeks ago!

No heating on yet, but it has been cold early morning (wear a fleece jog suit until I get in the shower and dress for the day). Need a jumper by 4.30pm ! Still have the summer bedspread (no duvet, yet), but I don't think that will last much longer, as hubby is complaining that his feet are cold in the night!

GabriellaG54, trees are not necessarily being cut down for log burners. We have a garden with some old trees which had got too big for safety and had to be cut down, and they will keep us in logs for years, as well as providing some dead and rotting wood for habitats. Also, if we have heat from the wood-burning stove, we don't need to use so much gas to heat the house. What would you want us to do with the wood instead of burning it?

The heating comes on with a thermostat and has been on a few times over the past couple of weeks, but we've only had a couple of mornings with frost so far. Jumpers on though!

15c is definitely not warm enough. Mine is set at 22c during the day in winter, off at night.

tiredoldwoman Fri 04-Oct-19 17:56:06

Cold in St.Andrews tonight , I put my heating on for a mean half hour . Big cardigan on and going to grab my bed socks now !

Nanny41 Fri 04-Oct-19 18:17:01

We live in Sweden and the thermostat comes on automatically, it has done this the past few days its not very warm in the house but takes the chill off until it gets really cold, which can be any time soon!

Nanny41 Fri 04-Oct-19 18:18:34

We have a house in Cumbria with the thermostat set at 10 during the winter when nobody is in the house, do you think that is enough or should it be on 15.Anyone know what is best please?

Sparklefizz Fri 04-Oct-19 18:26:59

15?????? Glad I don't live with you grin
Have the thermostat set at 15 & it turns itself on.

EllanVannin Fri 04-Oct-19 18:28:32

Just now and again, but manually as opposed to timed.

Hetty58 Fri 04-Oct-19 18:51:34

Nanny41 we have ours on at 12 if we're away, but then this house has solid walls and gets cold quickly. We leave it on 24 hours but it doesn't cost much on the bill.
