Where is your kitchen situated?

It is delightful most of the time annsixty, although when we moved here we thought we'd never get used to the early morning squawking of the geese, the late night Friday and Saturday chucking out of the pub across the river to the tune of "YMCA" not to mention the rowing club's summer boat races accompanied throughout as the boats near the finishing line to the theme of "Hawaii Five O" blaring out

Our kitchen is at the back of the house looking out onto the garden. Part is in the conservatory, so full of plants.

Our current kitchen was built as an extension with the window overlooking the garden. I chose a big window rather than more wall space for cupboards as I much prefer to look outside than spend time with my pots and pans.

AC have kitchens at front of their homes and seem happy with the arrangement.

We’ve had two houses with the kitchen at the front and I never liked that situation. I could not keep an eye on small children playing in the garden and was afraid of meeting people’s eyes if they peered in to see if the kitchen was tidy. Showing my anxiety there! House for the last 30 years has a garden facing kitchen which I much prefer. You look out over the garden and see the bird feeders and the flowers in summer. Plus it’s so convenient for taking stuff out when eating in the garden, be it light lunch or BBQ.?

But my favourite kitchen view is from my brother’s house in Canada. It overlooks the Pacific. You can look out and see sea eagles waiting for salmon and seals sunbathing. It makes my squirrels look a tad dull.☹️

DH keeps bird feeders topped up.
I love watch the birds and their antics whilst working in the kitchen or sitting in the conservatory.

I needed to have a back facing kitchen when we had young children.
I could work happily whist keeping an eye on the children.

Now I need to watch our grandchildren playing safely in the back garden whilst in the kitchen.

Also easy to hand healthy of course snacks and drinks, icecream via the kitchen window. ?

Our kitchen is at the front of the house. It looks out onto a small front garden beyond which is a fairly busy road, traffic wise. As we are on the outskirts of town we don't see many pedestrians.
Sadly our view of the sea is obscured by a high concrete sea defence.

Our tiny kitchen is at the front. It overlooks our front garden and communal landscaping. We’ve put a bird bath and feeders out there so always something to look at. In the summer we have chairs under the kitchen window where we can sit with lunch or coffee without trailing through to the back. The location means no one passes by unless they are coming to see us. We aren’t BBQ people so no worries there. It takes no time to carry a plate through to the back garden if we want to eat out there. It’s only the third front facing kitchen we’ve had and I’m enjoying having a window on the world.

My kitchen is at the front and looks out onto the village green and beyond that fields in the lovely Cherwell Valley. A road runs in front of the village green but apart from commuting time it is quiet. It is a small village so not much activity but plenty of dog walkers on the green.

The kitchen and the front of the house faces north so can be a bit gloomy in the winter. I wasn't sure about a kitchen at the front but I like my sitting room being at the back where it is totally private.

we have a large kitchen/diner with seating area at the back of the house in total it has around 26feet of windows so it always bright.Its view is the garden a high hedge and a green area beyond before a fairly busy road.The hedge is quiet just now but its like a village from spring onwards with nests the length of it and wee heads popping out at different hights.Keeps the GC amused ,or did when they were wee now our cats are getting out it might be hard work keeping them away from it

Mine is at the back of the house with french doors opening into the large conservatory that goes right across the back of the house.

My dad lives at the top of a small cul-de-sac and is the worst curtain twitcher ( despite him ticking mum off for it when she was alive)

My stepfather too gillybob. It used to exasperate my mum.

She said to him once ‘if there’s such a thing as an after life you’ll be coming back as a bluddy vase!’

My kitchen is at the back of the house and overlooks our 80ft garden, so we aren't overlooked.

Our kitchen is at the front and I enjoy watching the comings and goings of neighbours and walkers. I sometimes comment that so and so is home or leaving or doing something (while I'm cooking etc.) and my OH quips 'have you put it in the book?' . (I'm not really nosy, just interested .

Our kitchen is at the back, but when we extended, the sink was turned 45°, so that we now look at a wall. The windows are at the end of a long kitchen, and I would love to have a door into the garden instead. But we don't want the upheaval.
Like Gillybob, I am waiting for the big Lottery win, (only £25.00 again).
If we won a large amount, I would send her DH for his private operation.

Our kitchen is at the back overlooking the garden. The sink is below a large window so we spend a lot of time watching the antics of birds and squirrels on the bird feeder. We can also keep an eye on our two cats and any visiting cats from neighbouring gardens.There are foxes too that do a twice daily tour looking for food and sometimes sit and snooze in the sun with the cats. Would a bird feeder provide something of interest in your garden annsixty. Molly permitting of course!

My kitchen diner is in the middle. There's a sitting room/snug at the front and an extension/conservatory/lounge at the back. I can see through to the garden from the kitchen sink and table. I think it's ideal as I feel in the midst of family gatherings and I'd rather see the garden than the road.

My kitchen is at the back of the house and I love it, but it looks out onto a garden I hate. In our last house, the kitchen looked out across the garden towards a large tract of woodland - lovely at any time of the year.

My kitchen is at the side of the house and looks out onto a road so I can keep an eye on all the comings and goings. If I could choose though I think I would like to look out over the back garden - then I could watch all the birds coming and going instead!

Like Purpledaffodil's brother, mine overlooks the harbour, with fishing boats, large ships and eagles... on a very rare occasion whales. I have never taken that for granted, it's beautiful even if the weather is not.

The kitchen is in the middle of the house, but the sink faces towards the front living room and the large window facing west. However the side window faces our neighbour's house which is only 8 feet away! Not very nice.

Of course we always want what we don't have; my want was always a window overlooking the back yard so I could watch the kids playing while I was in the kitchen.

My daughter just bought a new house, and the kitchen is at the back facing the yard. It is very nice, especially with the young kiddies.

When we extended our house we doubled the size of the kitchen. It is at the back of the house and has two windows that overlook the garden. One window is over the sink and preparation area and the other is over the table area.

My kitchen is at the back of the house and overlooks the garden. I've only been here for a few months and don't know yet what plants I've inherited but it does look rather grim so far . I've put a couple of bird feeders up which has attracted a few birds but not as many as I'd hoped for. However, there are 2 squirrels who's antics keep me and the GC amused for hours!
Finances permitting, I'm hoping to get the garden looking better this year but I suspect I've bitten off rather more than I can chew on my own.

For years I had a kitchen at the back and it felt as if I was part of the garden. Could keep the back door and windows open all the time which I love.

Now have a kitchen at the front ~ which works well for seeing whatever is happening on our rather quiet avenue, but the huge disadvantage for me is that I don't want to leave windows open if I'm not actually in the kitchen.
