Can I suggest that anyone worried should get a finger oximeter from amazon, around £25ish and most definitely could be a life saver. I have one, it gives you the oxygen sats reading in your blood and takes worry away if it is a normal reading, a normal reading is between 95 nd 100% and they have a 2% error, so if it reads eg 97% then it could be 99% or 95% both of which are good. It will give a lower reading if finger tips are cold or if wearing coloured nail varnish

Craftyone - I'm showing my ignorance here, but what reasons would you check your oxygen at home? Is this for if we have a cough or feel unwell?

And if it is low, can you boost your own levels?

GM I can hear worry and doubt in shandys last post, she has a cough, at that point I would be taking my oxygen sats level and see if it has gone down at all from her `normal`, if it goes down and down then it would be wise to ring 111. If it stays at her normal, even with a cough, then she can at least remove that unspoken worry from her mind. It is not just one reading that counts if there is a `situation`, it needs to be monitored

If it is low then you need to either ring 111 or speak to GP. It could be several things, that is why it is important to know your own `normal`

I'm just back from our new Morrison store, all the lovely staff from the tiny Tesco were working there, really nice people.

Small things going wrong seem to be magnified at the moment. My car smells as though the exhaust has gone again, even after my fifty mile fast drive on Sunday. The kitchen drawer has jammed too.

I've just had my copy invoice from the solicitor, at least that's closure on that.

Meant to thank you for the info craftyone, when I had a dreadful fluey/cold virus, my oxygen level was 94, the doctor said it should be 98. Can't afford to buy one until pension day but a good investment, thank you

Blackpool was where I met my future in-laws for the first time in early 1983, my husband hadn't seen them for two years following his divorce. Was a tense visit, I remember I didn't have any boots and bought some from the charity shop, rubbed my heels raw!

It's always good to keep a check on our bodies and what is normal for us. I have to take my BP every morning as a way of checking my heart condition. Been doing it for almost 3 years now so it's part of my daily routine. I have a notebook to record it and when I have to see anyone about my health take it with me. Used to have a digital thermometer for my husband as I had to take and record his temperature everyday. First sign of a rise it was off to the hospital. It broke before my move so when CV19 started I brought a manual one from eBay. If my hot flush lasts more than half a hour I take my temperature just in case. Prevention is better than cure. As we get older it's important that we know what is normal for us. Everyone's normal is different.

Top coat of paint going on walls and woodwork today. Looking good with just one coat. My neighbour came round yesterday to ask my decorator to price a job. She has some wallpaper needs hanging
. My decorator said it's thin and told her the walls would need to be lined first or all the imperfections of the wall will show through he gave her a price. She was shocked. So he wouldn't be getting that job. I didn't even ask him to price my bedroom as he is an excellent decorator and I know how much things cost. In my bedroom after it was plastered he had to put 3 coats on walls and ceiling. Undercoat and top coat woodwork. 2 coats of a clear wax varnish on 3 doors. Repaired and painted the render under the spare bedroom window and paint all the window lintels. He uses Dulux professional paints inside and weathershield outside. £630. I was expecting more. In my spare room he had to strip the paper off fill all the holes and use 1400 lining paper before painting. He is going to fit my new curtain pole once everything is dry.

My neighbour across the road is having him to decorate 2, rooms for her. Her daughter's don't want him to do the job while CV19 is about so put the job on hold. Said to him on Monday bet you get a call from her when she sees your van here. She phoned yesterday wants him to do the work next month.

We can't put our lives on hold all we can do is take precautions.

Going to see my friend from U3A new house today. Taking her a jar of my blueberry jam, orange marmalade and tomato chutney as a house warming. She has promised cake. Will take my slippers with me. Then do some shopping afterwards.

Had a viewing of a property today. House is lovely and on a good size block of land. Not in our ideal area but in one that we can live with. There are a few negatives but changes could be done and if the place was a couple of miles up the road the price would be at least $100,000 more.

Viewing was an interesting and not entirely satisfactory experience. Due to our lockdown laws we could only have 10 minutes to view the place - we did sneak a bit more - only one of us could go into the house at a time so that meant there was no opportunity to discuss or draw to each other's attention matters of interest or concern. And, we each only got 5 minutes to view it all. Today was the first time the place has been open for viewing and there were 7 groups to see it. The people after us were a group of 3 and they were not at all happy about only one at a time being allowed in. Not sure what happened in the end as we left.

We both think it is worth a second look and the agent did say if we wanted another look she would arrange for us to have more time.

Forgot to say booked a bulky collection from my council to take away my old mattress. First date available is middle of next month so booked and paid for £10 a bargain for that they would take 3 items. Mattress must be dry so will put the cover off my new one on. And store in the garage .

That looks lovely spice, easy access too. Very frustrating and really they should be letting 2 in at once for a second viewing, things need to be discussed

I have ordered a lovely oak mantel, exactly the same as my diy neighbour who said he would gladly put it up. I felt endorphic, I have such lovely kind neighbours here. We pull together but I am glad I didn`t rush to get to know them, took my time

I need a humdrum quiet day. I will probably need to walk around with a duster and I could do with bottoming my bedroom.

Strange how we can buy a house in 10 minutes (or less) for hundreds of thousands but spend hours buying shoes or even a car. I had already bought our house in my mind in 3 minutes. My husband was about 5 minutes behind me having gone back to the car to get his measuring gadget that you point at walls. Luckily we agreed.
The sunshine just isn't getting through here until about 3 pm, so morning beach walks aren't at all crowded. I have to go early or the hound starts creating.

Had a bad night - no reason at all, just on of those nights. In fact I got up at 3.15 am to come to sit in the Living room. Put on QVC, then had to stop myself spending money on things I do not need. Back to bed at 4 am and then did fall asleep reasonably easily. Obviously, rather tired this morning, so will just take it easy today.
I ordered a half parasol and its own half base for my balcony from Ikea, also ordered the parasol cover. For some strange reason these all came in three separate deliveries. The sun does get far too strong for me in the afternoons, and this will mean I can still sit out there, but protected, without it taking up too much room. Just waiting now for a sunny day, for me to test it all out.

Looks a lovely house, Spice, hope second viewing goes well for you. Even ten minutes for the two of you is hardly time enough to base spending so much money.
Shandy, hope you are feeling better today, and cough is receding. I do have a blood pressure gauge and take mine every so often (when I remember), I am not one for doing any sort of medical tests on any sort of regular basis. Having managed to survive 79 plus years without doing that, have no intention of starting now. I know my body enough, to know very quickly when something is not quite right - problem is usually, making myself act on that knowledge earlier rather than letting things get worse. (I am very aware of the start of UTI, and also of blockages in my ostomy - if I act on these at the very early first signs, I can usually manage them quickly).

Bad nights ate horrible Franbern, I know too well. Take things easy today and have a little daytime snooze. Tomorrow will be better for you, fingers crossed.

Well, I had a very awkward conversation with my solicitor's office manager, but I'm glad I did. I only received my bill yesterday and when I added it up, found a discrepancy, I do remember craftyone saying to check the bill.

It was confirmed the £10 difference was just a transposition typing error, and they had only taken the lower figure. I haven't seen a breakdown of the deductions taken from my completion figure, and asked if the buyer had paid for the oil as I couldn't make my figures tally and she said they'd check - just had a phone call to say I'm owed more money and they'll pay it in later today. Enough to pay my electric bill, I'm very pleased!

My easy day has become the opposite. On moving my bed further from the wall. I noticed a small white mark on the quickstep laminate, I felt it, it is obviously damage and was definitely not there before I moved in. I have fixed it btw, I have furniture wax crayons and could never tell now

I didn`t want to do it, my hideaway hypnos is heavy, the mattress is heavy and it was full of storage underneath but I had to get to the source. Tipped the base up and 4 out of the 6 metal castors were well and truly bashed, all 4 had been completely deformed with the ball edges, not rollers, on the floor itself. Sharp edges. I got the castors out, luckily they unscrewed but there were none identical to be had anywhere on the net. I ended up in the garage with a rubber mallet, block of wood and used the vice. I have bashed them back into some form of temporary shape but these 4 have lost their strength

I found the hypnos phone number and lovely sympathetic lady is sending me replacements, rubber ones this time. All I had to do was explain my situation. 10 days because of post etc. I have put the others back for now and very carefully replaced the heavy headboard, mattress and bedding. I took some weight and managed to get the bed back, I wanted to sleep in it

So that was the removers, no-one else, I must have happened in the van. Lesson learned, get the castors protected if moving

I am not finished in there yet, such a lot of visible fluff, visible because of the flooring and lots behind the chest of drawers. I have a bit more re-arranging to do and another chest to move, to get underneath. At one time I was so tempted by fitted furniture but not now. We had that sort of furniture twice and both times, that was that, fixed in place and nothing could be changed

Thank goodness for a ready meal later. A tip run will follow, I am giving up on the seat cushion that I altered for the garden bench, all I am doing is storing it behind my sofa, no point, I have never used it. Luckily was not expensive. I am also going to try and hunt out some clothing but have to be strong willed to do that

You've reminded me of the time when me and my ex husband bought our first house ( 1971)
We were able to get a 100% mortgage but had no spare cash.
When the solicitors bill came in we couldn't pay it so my ex said: we'll go to the bank manager and ask for a loan
The bank manager asked to see the bill. He then pointed out to us that several items were exactly the same thing but just written in a different way.
He asked if he could phone the solicitor on our behalf.
He not only tore them off a strip but got the bill greatly reduced.
Lovely days when you had genuine people willing to help.

I don't wish to frighten you but I speak as someone who ended up in hospital ( 3 of us did) with carbon monoxide poisoning.
