how do you store bags? I don`t have an excess

I have two black handbags - 0ne large/one small and a grey shopping back on a hook inside the downstairs cupboard where I store the vacuum cleaner.
Posh black handbag - funerals etc - on a hook in spare bedroom.
Holiday bags in suitcase with holiday clothes. They won't see the light of day this year

I got a 'plastic hanging thingy' but found some tend to slide out of sides if not a big bag, and if you move it much, and if it gets full.ended up not using it after a bit, as its annoying.

I use a canvas hanging shoe caddy in the wardrobe. I have a reputation for "collecting" handbags so it is very useful.

Oh goodness, I have bags under in 2 of the under bed draws, in a shoe cupboard, in stacking baskets and on top of the wardrobe in the spare room. My be I need to declutter them :-)

I like the look of the hanging sectional, I'm going to take a look on line.

My solution is similar to that of Sylviapatten but the spaces are square, and they are open at the front. here is a velcroed fold-over bit at the top that goes over the wardrobe pole.

What a problem! I have a solitary handbag which I replace when it starts to fall apart...?

We have shopping bags which are stored inside each other and hang in my upstairs laundry. I only own one handbag and it spends its life on the hallway table

How do I store bags? Sorry to say rather untidily !!!

I am going to get better organized when the weather cools down and I do not want to get outside in the fresh air so much.
I look to reach that goal by mid autumn.

I used to have a great system where I hung them all on the handlebars of my exercise bike ?

Recently had a clear out and determined to sort out the bags. Those that had cloth bags and stood up on their own - fine. For the soft floppy ones I used shoe boxes to stand them up in generally two to a box as they supported each other. Bigger rigid ones also stood in a box. Didn't fancy buying the clear plastic boxes some folk use and no room to hang the stacking system in a wardrobe. All mine are on a shelf.

The hanging thingy is open both sides so air isn’t a problem. I moved mine to the back of the coat hanging rail so it doesn’t need to be moved. The one I have is better made than the one in the ad from my last post but probably rather more expensive.

I had a new smaller bag for my birthday in June and have wrapped it in its bag and put it in the wardrobe. Now I need to find a way of remembering that I have it!

I'm very impressed by those who store handbags in their soft bag! I have never bought a handbag with its own soft bag, in fact they're usually from charity shops!

Me too humptydumpty. My bags aren't that valuable. But tbh I don't think I would keep them in their bags even if they were.

I have a lot of handbags but tend to use the same one all the time. They are stored on the floor of the wardrobe.
My shopping bags are in the hall cupboard but I usually take my shopping trolley as it holds so much more.

I use the same bag pretty much all the time, because I can’t be bothered changing stuff over. The colour goes with anything.
I have about 6 more, stuffed in a drawer, for ‘dressier’ occasions, which are very rare these days. None of them were expensive.
Shopping bags live in the car.
I can’t get my head around people who have huge collections of bags - or shoes, for that matter.

Does anyone else appreciate the irony of bags that take up so much room?

My problem is not handbags or even shopping bags although I have more linen bags than I know what to do with - all with inspiring “green” logos.
My problem is the eleventy million single use plastic bags my shopping has been delivered in since the start of lockdown.
Ocado used to charge 5p per bag but then gave me 5p for every bag I returned. It usually evened out.
But now nobody will take them back and there’s only so many waste paper bins you can line with them.
So for now they are tightly rolled up with a rubber band round them and threatening to take over the garage.

Mine are split into summer/ winter, in tall containers and depending upon which season I make that container the most easy to reach - works a treat.

Me neither, GreenGran, and I'm one of them (on both counts). I think it's just that I don't get rid of the old stuff when I buy new, "just in case".

Found a great idea for the supermarket plastic bags. You might get it on YouTube but here goes my explanation.

Fold bag length ways a number of times until you get a 4cm strip approx. Now form a triangle by turning a bottom corner across to opposite side. Now you should have a point shape. Fold this up and fold another triangle with bulkier bit. (Still following?). Continue up the strip until you reach the handles and tuck those into the ‘pocket’ made by the final triangle.

I store my many plastic bags like this. I must be worth a fortune as they take up very little room and are worth 5p each! ?

GreenGran....some people just like bags and enjoy having a collection.
Anyone who watches the sewing channels on tv will know that bag-making is quite a hobby for many people. Such gorgeous fabrics!
Of course, they are much too nice to actually use...they are usually put on display for others to admire.

I just like bags.

I like boxes even better. I have loads of nice boxes with nothing in them?

I have a scandi designer coat hanger stand in my hall, it is empty and really a nice work of art. I brought 3 tote bags down and put them on 3 of the hangers, they stick out like antlers but are plain beech wood. It looks lovely, so that is 3 bags sorted. I am doing ok, 2 bags are ready to go out, one a chunky pacsafe bag, last used 14 years ago and a floppy radley bag made from cheapish fabric and one unused bag from kipling, I never liked it but it was in a sale. Those plus 2 unused pashminas (presents) will go to the charity shop

Smaller bags left on a bed right now and it wasn`t 9, it was 12 bags. 2 are thin pacsafe and they are good for tickets etc if on holiday

Your local food bank will be very glad to receive any spare plastic bags. They are usually desperate for them. Alternatively most supermarkets have a place where you can recycle them along with any plastic food wrappings. Of course, either method will be a problem if you aren’t leaving the house. Maybe a neighbour could help.
