Thank you for kind words - and well done those of you who are having better luck. I hope all the moves go well.

I have cleared my bungalow - I hired a skip and did a mad clear-out earlier in the year. I also had all my OH's stuff to sort and clear, but it is all done now. I have not done any sort of packing as it feels as though that would be tempting fate - but not doing it has not brought me any luck so far, so maybe I should do some!

Whiff Thu 12-Nov-20 17:57:00

Luckygirl when you feel like it start to pack. But pace yourself. I hope you have some viewing very soon. And this time someone not in a chain. Someone in rented accommodation would be ideal. Unfortunately buying and selling properties is not easy or straight forward. And doing it on your own is hard. But when you finally sell and in your new home it will be well worth it. We are here for you.

Luckygirl, I'm sorry to hear your news. I'm sure you will get a new buyer soon.

Luckygirl Thu 12-Nov-20 19:29:40

Estate agent has rung and he has talked to the builder of the house that I want to buy - he has given me a week to find another buyer. Viewing tomorrow morning so fingers crossed.

Whiff Thu 12-Nov-20 20:15:03

Luckygirl fingers and toes crossed. For you. Try and have a good night's sleep.

Ellianne Thu 12-Nov-20 21:31:48

That sounds promising Luckygirl. If the developer and the EA are pulling out all the stops there's still hope to get you moved.

Shandy57 Thu 12-Nov-20 22:47:12

Good luck tomorrow Luckygirl.

Give us a clue as to the location/price of your bungalow and I'll find it on RightMove and advertise it on Fb for you. The more viewings you get next week the better, I hope your developer does wait, he must know how hard you've tried smile

Whiff Fri 13-Nov-20 05:42:57

Luckygirl hope you managed to get a good night's sleep. Hope all goes well.

Gee whizz Luckygirl, you must have walked under a ladder, had a black cat cross your path a encountered numerous other things said to bring bad luck. Hopefully you find a genuine buyer very soon and can finalize the purchase of your new home.

We eventually received the paperwork for the house we are interested in and have had it OK'd by the conveyancer as nothing unusual with the property. Offers are being put to the vendors on Monday evening and we are meeting with the EA on Monday to sort out our offer. We are not happy with the way this is being handled. Offers are not held back according to the agent but they delay getting the paperwork out so that they can then "present" all offers at the same time. I'm not confident that we will have our offer accepted. IMO by putting in an offer and then being pressured to increase it after offers are considered is simply wrong and I'm tempted to put in a one only offer at the top price we are prepared to pay. The place will sell, and at or above the asking price but if one resists the temptation to increase one's offer then it will be at less than if we continue to play the agent's game. At least when a property is auctioned you can see where the price is going and decide what to do. this way one has no idea of the other offers and so could be way out.

Spice that is a horrible way to buy somewhere. I always like to now how much things are up front. That's why I had a fixed rate to pay the estate agent. Probably paid more than I should have if it had been on sale price. But I knew all my out goings in advance.

I hope you are successful. When will you know if you are?

Luckygirl Fri 13-Nov-20 08:30:57

That is indeed a horrible way to buy a property. It is all a game to the agents; but it is about serious life decisions for those involved.

Viewers expected soon - my bungalow looks cleaner than I have ever seen it!!

Shandy57 Fri 13-Nov-20 10:01:38

Morning all, sunny and cold today.

Friday 13th - not sure if I am superstitious or not.

Good luck Spice, as you say, it is a ridiculous guessing game. I was asked to offer more on my £235K bungalow and rather than randomly offer thousands more, offered 1%.

And good luck to you Luckygirl, hope you have the heating and all the lights on to make it look its sparkliest! Fingers crossed.

I've just talked to my old neighbour, he was sweeping up thorns from his hedge cutting. I told him I've found somewhere - and asked if he had sold his bungalow. He was very evasive and said he didn't really know what was happening.

Not much to do today, I'm still trying to find the waistcoat pattern for my aunt - who knew that John Lewis sold vintage sewing patterns!

Enjoy your day smile

Whiff Fri 13-Nov-20 10:35:36

Shandy have you tried sites like love craft, black sheep , wool warehouse, lakeside needlecraft. Or just Google yarn or wool. They all sell variety of patterns. Also eBay , Esty and think Amazon. One of them will have what you want.

Shandy57 Fri 13-Nov-20 12:32:18

Thing is Whiff she has knitted a 'back', hasn't got enough wool for a front, so wants to put a velvet or corduroy front on it. It's not going to work but I'm humoring her, she's so bored staying in. She asked me to find some velvet and was going to 'make up a pattern' - I've found a really good McCall's vintage pattern which has long and short 'vests' so she can choose the length. Unfortunately the one I saw has sold, keeping my fingers crossed another one will be listed on ebay soon smile

Luckygirl Fri 13-Nov-20 12:44:55

Viewing this morning went very well - they have offered full asking price and have cash buyer, who is living in rented, for theirs. Keep everything crossed!!!!!!

Elusivebutterfly Fri 13-Nov-20 13:04:02

Good news Lucky Girl.

Whiff Fri 13-Nov-20 13:22:59

Luckygirl that sounds hopeful. Hope you here more before the end of the day.

Shandy57 Fri 13-Nov-20 13:29:36

Wow Luckygirl, it's a lucky Friday 13th!

I've just come on to say I've received my survey and my surveyor said there is nothing to do that would prevent me from moving straight in. There are two items to investigate ie pesky flight holes from alive/dead? woodworm in the loft, and some brickwork. Full steam ahead!

cornergran Fri 13-Nov-20 13:41:12

Hope you won’t mind me gatecrashing your thread to say what good news luckygirl. The 13th isn’t always an unlucky day smile really hope this works for you.

Whiff Fri 13-Nov-20 14:39:28

Shandy brilliant news. Woodworm can be treated and any timber replaced. Brickwork easy to sort. I had my whole bungalow and garage repointed and a clear waterproof coating painted on.

My late husband grew up in a house number 13. My son and one of my grandson's was born on the 13th. It's just a number.

Ellianne Fri 13-Nov-20 14:42:17

So pleased for you Luckygirl. It all sounds very promising.
On with the packing now!

midgey Fri 13-Nov-20 14:47:24

Oh wow, good news Luckygirl! Shandy good for you too. Spice let’s hope you are number three! ?!

Aldom Fri 13-Nov-20 14:53:43

Luckygirl Hoping all goes well for you. You deserve it. Best wishes.

Franbern Fri 13-Nov-20 15:54:31

Luckygirl lovely to hear such good news. So, it looks like it is all going to go well for you now. How wonderful.

I was born on a Friday 13th - so really cannot feel any worries on such a date!!!

Pittcity Fri 13-Nov-20 16:06:35

Great news Lucky.

We viewed a house this morning and phoned the agents with an offer but have heard nothing back.... The suspense is killing me......
