I have been getting weekly delivery slots from Tesco since March, either priority or fixed.
I usually book three weeks ahead on a Saturday morning.
This morning I went in as usual and there are no delivery slots available right up until 13th November. ?
The last one I have booked is 6th November.
Could they be blocking for Christmas?

No Tesco delivery slots for November
(65 Posts)Thank you Marydoll I have booked for 3rd November. there were some other slots but I was not paying £6 or £7 for delivery.
I cannot remember how much I paid at the start of the year and I can have delivery on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at a cheaper price to others.
Marydoll at this rate there will be no Christmas slots.
I have a pass and priority, but nothing!!
Charliegirl I think that may be the problem. Others thinking there maybe a shortage in December. So ordering non perishables now
Don't despair! It appears that they release more slots as time goes on.
I've been noticing that you can't book even a week ahead (Tesco, Morrisons, Ocado) but can book the next day.
They also seem to release evening slots first too.
They stagger them according to some algorithm or something
Just keep checking regularly.
I don't think that they have released Christmas slots yet although Waitrose has.
Watch out in your emails, Marydoll as they may notify you about release dates.
Marydoll.
If a person lives alone how can they need a regular weekly Tesco delivery unless generously feeding everyone living around them? My fridge freezer only holds so much so is this once a week delivery what Tesco expect before they make slots available.I gave up trying and now book a local taxi to take me and pick me up when I NEED to restock not when Tesco tell me a weekly delivery is the only way I can get deliveries.
Tesco is 13th Nov for Christmas slots.
It has just dawned on me that may be the reason
I booked a Tesco slot yesterday for Weds 11th Nov.
My son has already booked with Marks and Spencers for their Xmas food. They will go and collect it on Xmas Eve i assume. I am starting to buy extra bits every week for us. I'm worried there may be a lock down again .
beverly10, I hope I'm mistaken in detecting a hint of criticism in your post.
I do not live alone for a start. However I have a number of comorbidities, also am immunosuppressed and have been advised not to go to supermarkets by my doctors, neither does my my husband who was shielding with me.
I also include my daughter and SIL's shopping, as they need to stay safe, being the people who collect my prescriptions etc. and support my husband and I.
Add to the fact that I can't lift heavy bags ec, I rely on Tesco, even for fresh items like bread and milk.
I don't even know why I'm bothering to explain!
Try walking in my shoes. ?

Well, what a self righteous person you are, beverly10
Does it not occur to you that trying to book a delivery in advance is because we know when we will be NEEDING to restock.
It's called housekeeping!
Just had a look on our site now, and there are plenty of slots for the 7th - 13th Nov which I suppose are only available so far to those with a delivery pass (maybe to who have priority too???).
In the weeks leading up to that, there was only one other day with slots available, which was 5th Nov.
Not a lot of use to any of you, I know, unless you happen to be in the same delivery region as me, but I know from experience that whole blocks of slots can randomly become available at any moment, so the only answer is to check frequently - that was the only way I could get slots throughout much of lockdown.
Those of you who have mentioned Christmas slots, how does that work? I had imagined that those dates would just come up gradually in due course just like those for the rest of the year. Is that not the case?

No need to 'justify' yourself Marydoll
I also book weekly slots and will continue to do so without explanation
Are you a new poster beverley10?
If so welcome.
Although it seems odd to join then start criticising other posters especially as you know nothing about them or their circumstances.
My fridge freezer only holds so much
Other people's fridge freezers may hold even less.
Perhaps some people prefer to eat fresh food rather than slightly off food.
Who knows?
Really Beverly10, you are a luck one are you not ? Hope you
never get a physical disability which stops you stepping outside your front door.
Try carrying bags from supermarkets with only the use of
a thumb and forefinger, most you could manage is a bag of
sugar, you would need a lot of taxis in a week.
Am I the only person who didn't think beverley's post was a criticism?
I read it as she lives alone and doesn't want to order a weekly delivery, which she seems to think is what Tesco require.
Yes, it was implied criticism.
The post was ambiguous, so perhaps I may have taken it the wrong way. ? I did say I hoped I was mistaken that it was a criticism.
Just feeling touchy today!
It's after 13th Nov which is the problem.

For the first half of lockdown, I shopped approx. fortnightly from Tesco. However, they had limited the number of items you could order at one go, and I found it increasingly difficult to buy everything we needed (two of us) within that limit, so I started shopping approx. every ten days instead, though even then, I had to juggle things to do it within the item limit.
I'm saying this to show that you didn't have to shop weekly to get a slot - all it took was a lot of time and persistence to continually monitor their site in order to grab a slot that randomly appeared. Luckily I have plenty of the latter and always managed to get one sooner or later!
Just to add, like others, I initially read your post as a criticism of those who shop weekly, but having read it through a few times since, I can see that I might have read something into it that wasn't intended.
I remember reading about delivery slots last week and it's looking a bit bleak if you don't already have deliveries. Even those who do aren't going to have a good time of it coming up to the festive period. Oh heck.
I'm still a bit confused, Marydoll, sorry - in what way is it a problem after 13th November? Are you saying that tomorrow, when I would expect Nov. 14th slots to become available, that won't be the case, or what?
(I'm not trying to be difficult, I promise - I simply don't understand what the problem is, or is going to be.)
Riverwalk I agree with you. That's how I understand the post. I feel sorry for Beverly. If you are new, Beverly, I hope you are not feeling too hurt by some of the remarks. Welcome from me.
I suppose it's only to be expected under the circumstances really because if these " tiers " keep rising, there'll be fewer going outside their doors.
I get so fed up with the judgements over how people do their shopping. It happened in the last lockdown, and it seems to be starting again.
On my local FB page someone had seen her neighbour get weekly deliveries, and complained bitterly that this wasn't fair, as she (the complainer) had been unable to get slots. The reason for this was that the neighbour was a long-standing online shopper, and had been offered slots that were not available to the complainer. This seems to me fair enough, as the complainer clearly had other ways of shopping, which she had used for all the years leading up to the lockdown (she was not on the shielding list).
The complainer decided that the neighbour was buying non-essential items, that she didn't need to shop so often, and that basically she wasn't entitled to deliveries at all, because the complainer couldn't get a slot at that time.
I have shopped online for years. I don't drive, so click and collect is out of the question, and I am asthmatic, so can't carry a lot of shopping, even if I was willing to go out to get it. I shouldn't have my motives for shopping online questioned by those who don't use it. It is not a charitable service - I pay for the privilege, and frankly, if people like me had not had deliveries for all this time the service wouldn't exist at all.
I found a lot of the spying, judgement and demands for justification quite upsetting, and I really hope it is not starting up again now that we seem to be heading for another lockdown.
