Our G-Tech is running out of steam, and we want to buy a new upright, chargeable hoover which will deal with carpets and hard surfaces, plus attachments for the stairs. Do you have any recommendations, please? Gransnet always gives me so much help!
Has anyone used a Halo sweeper? or is Dyson the preferred brand.
Thanking you in advance.

natateturbe. One of the things I like about this machine is that it does NOT have different settings. I find it much easier to use, goes over hard floor and carpet without me having to adjust anything.
Surprised you say it is difficult on your rug - have never found this to be the case. It tends to glide over everything, whilst doing its job.
MadeinYorkshire if you know the model number for the machine you may find details of the filter on the web. If you cannot, I have always found the GTech have an excellent, helpful customer service and you can either email or telephone them and they would be able to advise you re. the filter.
I did not realise that my Air Ram had a washable filter until it stopped picking up (I had been using it then for over two years). When I read the Instruction Book found it easy, cleared it, washed it, let it dry overnight - and everything was like new again. Mind you instruction book tells me this should be done monthly.

I have a Halo and it is great. I have two hairy cats and had to drag the hairs out of my dyson every time I used it.
The Halo collects it into a bag, which lasts a long time before it tell you to replace it, and then makes no mess at all.
It is more powerful than my cordless dyson, and I am going to get rid of the cabled upright I used to use occasionally for more thorough cleaning.
Go for it!

I used to have the original G-Tech carpet sweeper which was excellent for a quick clean-round, but a year ago I managed to break it. I use a Bosh Athlet cordless but it's too heavy for me to haul upstairs, so bought a cheap but effective vacuum for upstairs. It has all the necessary attachments too.

I tried the new vacuum today again. Very powerful. In fact I wonder is it lifting a lot of the carpet fibres and if this will damage the carpets..
As it is very lightweight, I thought it would be eaasy to use but it's difficult to push on carpet. On the living room rug it's like level 3 on the Bosch Athlete which I wouldn't use every time.
I couldn't use it, it takes too much effort. I have reduced muscle strength (due to M.E. or fibromylgia.)
Pluses: powerful cleaning, lightweight to carry upstairs, light at front to illuminate floor, good value with the offer we got.
Cons, only one power level, heavy to push, doesn't go into small corners.
We'll use it maybe once a fortnight on carpets, at least husband will. But it's a bit of a waste.
We will have to buy another lightweight for me to use.Probably another Bosch Athlete.

I've got the basic GTec, what are the differences with the new 'top' model. (£199 versus £300+)

It's easy to empty and store and we got a 20% off deal direct from Gtech, plus some accessory kit included.

I'm getting used to it now. It doesn't go into corners as well but its actually easier to lift and store and cleans better.
The attachments are fiddly but we have a cylinder cleaner for stairs and corners.
I do take a while to adjust. hmm

S, would you tell me how your Halo performs with loose hair, please?

Handle just broke. Two springs fell out. Rang GTech. They said they would send a new part for me to fix it. Really?? I told them no thank you. I only have it a week so I am entitled to a replacement and you can have this one back. One will be here in two days. I hope it doesn't happen again.
