My number one is getting the vacuum out and hoovering, I find it very therapeutic ?. I can honestly say I’m no Freddie Mercury wanting to break free,

Hmmm, I struggling to think of one thing about housework that I like - no, nothing comes to mind! I started using a cleaner a few months ago so no longer do very much at all.

I spent today though on a task that I really detest, household filing! I lob paperwork in a box then go through it to file when I can’t fit anything else in the box. So, after a few hours of rooting through the box and sorting it into piles on the floor, I then found that the filing boxes were full so had to start culling those. I now have a huge pile of old bank statements, credit card bills, energy bills and other rubbish waiting to be shredded, a bin bag full of old leaflets and brochures and nice neat filing boxes going back five years.

I now need a rest before digging out the shredder and bit by bit reducing the stack of papers into a bin bag of tiny bits. It might be a few weeks before I finish as the shredder overheats if I do too much in one session!

I have no favourite household chores

Ethelwashere1 Sat 16-Oct-21 18:51:11

None. Hate the lot, do as little as possible then if i know a visitor is coming I rush around madly to catch up

Nortsat Sat 16-Oct-21 18:58:23

I was going to say emptying the dishwasher and seeing all the clean dishes tidily put away in the cupboards.

However having read the thread, now I am going to invite Trisher to have a party in my kitchen, whilst enjoying herself cleaning my oven.
I will follow LauraNorder’s household chore advice and Trisher and I can both empty some wine glasses ?

Trisher, I’m ready when you are ?

Now, emptying wine glasses I am very good at! I would love to clean your oven Nortsat - I would view it as a new challenge!!! grin

Just packing rubber gloves as I type!

Trisha57 Sat 16-Oct-21 19:11:17

Just realised that my previous post sounded very rude, Norstat - I'm not assuming that your oven is any grubbier than mine, honest! smile

That's me to a tee Ethelwashere1

It was lovely in lockdown. No visitors and could do housework when I felt like doing it. smile
I like to be working in the garden these days.

I have lots of favourite household chores as long as I can watch someone else doing them. grin

maddyone Sat 16-Oct-21 19:38:39

None of them. I do any housework because I can’t stand a dirty or untidy house.

Caleo Sat 16-Oct-21 20:43:43

I like hanging out the washing. My little dog comes out too and we have throw and fetch .

NotTooOld

I hate all housework and all cooking. I have to do it though as I also hate a dirty and untidy house. DH helps.

I also 'hate' the assumption that Housework is Women's work and you are very lucky if DH helps you to do 'your' work.

Me? with no DH to 'help' I do it all myself, with the exception of hoovering. That task is undertaken by a wee robot, who takes his time but makes a lovely job of it smile

I occasionally help DH with a few chores.
He’s just asked ‘What chores’?
‘Cup of tea please’ said I
He falls for it every time

Absolutely none!! It’s all a chore-my dear Mum used to say I was born to be a lady ?

PaperMonster Sun 17-Oct-21 09:57:28

I love ironing.

grandtanteJE65 Sun 17-Oct-21 14:22:02

Anything and everything that doesn't including gardening in any form or shape.

Ironing, cooking and washing floors probably head the list.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 17-Oct-21 14:27:50

We have a cleaner but between their visits I quite enjoy polishing. That’s it.

Daisend1 Sun 17-Oct-21 14:40:35

Absolutely and always have loathed housework.Washing and to see it blowing in the wind don't you just love it? I do. Then the ironing all clean and folded or shirts etc on coat hangers Bliss.

garnet25 Sun 17-Oct-21 17:10:36

None, but I love gardening and looking after my indoor plants.
Hanging washing on the line is fine as that's outside. I have even been known to iron outside!!

TeresaLambert Sun 17-Oct-21 18:22:39

I enjoy cooking and baking for the family.

Callistemon Sun 17-Oct-21 18:24:48

I'm a bit like Aunt Flo, I have to be in a baking mood.

grannyrebel7 Sun 17-Oct-21 19:09:10

Absolutely none of them!

LadyGracie Sun 17-Oct-21 19:49:14

I love clean washing and a clean kitchen and bathroom. I'm particular about bed changing too, the rest is done on an 'when I can be bothered' basis.
I also have a robot vacuum cleaner so don't even do that.

Amberone Sun 17-Oct-21 21:23:30

Definitely no fave ones, just some I loathe less than others. That's why they are called 'chores' ?

I don't mind cleaning windows as I can see the difference when the sun shines.

I have a passion for housework and yard work! Love to clean! I know. Very strange... not many like me. LOL
