I keep seeing it mentioned, but never see it in anything but a small bottle - maybe I’ve never looked in the right places.

I know I could try Amazon, but nowadays I try to avoid it where possible.

I buy it with my supermarket shopping. it could be described as a small bottle, but it suits me.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 30-Mar-22 11:01:32

I just use the white vinegar from most supermarkets Witzend.

Amazon in 5 litre bottles

ShazzaKanazza Wed 30-Mar-22 11:03:05

Yeah that standard size bottle suits me, sorry I didn’t realise you wanted bigger than that.

Amazon ,my OH uses it for weed control so buys a couple of 5 litre bottles at a time

MaizieD Wed 30-Mar-22 11:24:00

OP has said she doesn't want to purchase from Amazon. Neither would I.

Alternative sources on this page of search results. Includes ebay, which was my first thought...

Thank you for asking. I have been wondering the same for quite some time, and was on the verge of asking on here myself grin

I buy big jars of it to pickle vegetables etc from supermarkets as it’s not as harsh as malt vinegar.

You can buy 500ml bottles and 5litre refills at minimlrefills.co.uk/
And also through the Ethical Superstore.

Easy enough and very cheap to purchase at Supermarkets. Normal sized vinegar bottle. I have a spray bottle that I then re-fill with white vinegar for most of household cleaning. Cheap and eco-friendly. No need to look for large bottles via amazon.

I'm interested in that too I have lots of weeds. grin

(And, before anyone says 'what about the bees? I have plenty of weeds left for the bees in other parts of my domain grin )

Hoe is quite good.

I’ve just seen that you can get a 750 mil spray bottle of WV from Wilko for £1.50.

Litterpicker Wed 30-Mar-22 14:14:43

The advantage of a large bottle is saving on the number of small bottles and trigger sprays sold. If you have a ‘refill’ shop near they will fill up your existing spray bottle. If you don’t, you can buy the big bottle, refill your small bottle and when the big bottle is empty, return it to the supplier for re-use ?

Pittcity Wed 30-Mar-22 15:07:11

I buy a 568ml bottle cheaply from Aldi or Lidl. The
plastic bottle goes in the recycling. I reuse trigger bottles that I already have. One is diluted vinegar for cleaning windows etc. Another is washing up liquid, vinegar and water for general cleaning. Neat vinegar for descaling, in washing machine for towels. Vinegar with washing soda for unblocking and dirtier jobs.

Sainsbury's. Waitrose, Co-op.

Fennel Wed 30-Mar-22 16:47:22

My mum used it to rinse her hair. gets rid of scum from soap.
We took our own bottle to the pharmacy and they filled it.
i don't know if they still do this.

Jane43 Wed 30-Mar-22 22:35:04

I walked around Sainsbury’s twice this afternoon looking for white vinegar. I will try Wilko tomorrow, failing that I will probably order it from Amazon.

OnwardandUpward Wed 30-Mar-22 22:37:33

Aldi might do it? Or a hardware shop?

Franbern Thu 31-Mar-22 08:39:02

On my Sainsbury's on the same shelves as the malt vinegar. Did you ask an assistant in there for it. Sainsbury assistants are usually extremely helpful

Pittcity Thu 31-Mar-22 08:42:33

As Franbern said, it's with the malt vinegar in the oils and sauces section. But it seems that white vinegar is more popular than malt and is often sold out.

M0nica Sun 03-Apr-22 18:48:51

I use salt for killing weeds.

Elegran Sun 03-Apr-22 19:11:39

It may be called "spirit vinegar" instead of "white vinegar".
