I was cool this morning so re-made my bed with autumn bedding. Airing cupboard, no where left to store summer bedding without stuffing it in. Big carved costco wool rug out and now in living room, had that rug 4 years and never used. Old rug rolled up and storing in garage. New rug looks lovely

I took everything out and completely re-did my airing cupboard, very grateful to the builder who gave me slatted shelves. Much more space now. I put the lakeland vac storage bag away and `found` a large bag of wools for felting, now emptied and re-packed for donating today

I have gone from cool to hot and am crossing fingers that my timing was good re hanging my bedding out today. I see a blue sky

I am thinking it is a lovely autumn this year, I thought it would be more advanced by now, bearing in mind the summer drought. Loving the sunny days and trees still in full foliage

More heavy work today outside, satisfying and involving more driving. Tossing and turning last night, very aware of car interfaces and sensors now. No rear camera linkage as yet, it will happen but it made me much more aware of safety features that I rely on. Anxiety was going through my head. Are my parking sensors working? Is my reversing light working? Yes they are, I tested them today in front of my reflective window. I am hoping that this now settles my mind for tonight.

I was very fortunate when I got Covid. Just like a mild summer cold. Only reason I took a test, was that, as I was a bit coughy and sneezy, thought take a test, show negative and then could wave that around at my groups. Thought I was seeing double when the result came back. So, a couple of days feeling rather tired, and that was really it. Mind you I know lots of older people who have had these same mild symptoms No doubt thanks to all the vaccine pushed into us.

So, this morning had flu jab in left arm, and Covid one (Moderna) in right arm. Extra in this now against Omicront variants. Fortunately, I have nothing arranged for tomorrow, (was going to do some gentle housework and indoor window cleaning - now have perfect excuse not to do any of that)!!!!!

Lovely Foodfest today, and weather being kind to it. I did purchase some lovely cheeses, and also some sausages. Do like a good cheeseboard, and my favorite comfort food is sausage and mash. The sausages I purchase at these stalls, which bring them from their nearby farm, taste totally different to anything I get in a supermarket. I freeze them in pairs for use.

I can remember back in 1972 there was a change in stamp duty. We had been in the process of selling and purchasing a new build then. These were finally (late) ready for us to move into late June/Early July, but my hubbie insisted we wait until 1st August when the new rate came into being and meant we. therefore, paid no stamp duty. At the time, I was terrified at this further delay - but it was to our benefit. When we met out new neighbours and explained why we had moved in two or three weeks after them, they were all very annoyed that their Solicitors had not advised them to delay.

Sorry your neighbour is feeling so poorly karmalady, when this started I did a test immediately. Can't understand how I've escaped it, being billy no mates has its advantages I suppose! I hope your neighbour does manage something to eat to keep his strength up, I think I told you my friend's boyfriend just offered to get 'take aways'. She also lost weight during her 'bout'. and I told her I'd pay for a nurse if she's ever ill again, she could hardly breathe at all.

As for the mini budget and stamp duty I really feel for anyone who has just missed it, £2,500 is a lot of carpet etc!

Off to research where they filmed Wolf Hall, then two more episodes this afternoon. Have a good weekend everyone.

my neighbour, active lovely caring never-ill male 80 years old, has come down with covid and is absolutely creased with it. In so much pain, throat to chest. He must have caught it 8 days ago at a wedding. His energy is gone and he can barely eat. I have gathered together a bag of easy food, tinned soups, custard, rice and also written out a few tips and popped a jar of honey and a bottle of lemon juice ino the bag. I am going on a shop for me tomorrow, will get him some more food. He has lost 4lb in a week. Absolutely not to be sniffed at, covid cases are increasing rapidly along with hospitalisations. He had 3 jabs. Anyway I was not going to bother with the next booster but what he is going through is a huge incentive and I now have an appointment

I have spent the morning heavy lifting composts, done two round trips in the car from 8am, probably total of 50miles local has run out of the compost, it was me that bought it all. I have a lovely smooth soup cooking now, it is a lovely one, carrot onion tomato lentil with various herbs. Enough for several days

It has been an energetic day for me tbh so I am going to do my level best not to drift into napping this evening

I saw that the change in stamp duty threshold has already resulted in sellers taking their homes off market and re-marketing at around 10k higher

I do wonder if I will actually go upto the top. So, my figures werewrong. These ten projects only cost the UK taxpayers £120,000,000!!!!!! Do think our Council were absolutely correct in applying to be one of those ten. This has provided extra jobs locally, and the hospitality section of the town are, undoubtedly, benefiting. It is free to go on. Hopefully, over then next six weeks loads of school groups will be coming. For those 'brave' enough, part of the way down can be through an internal slide!!!!! Kids will love it!!!

Had WsM not got this it would have gone somewhere else, there was never ever choice about using the money for anything else. Given the town some nice publicity.

See that Stamp Duty now commences at about the price at which most of the flats in this bloc sell . Wonder if that will make any difference at all in their prices. We have a few coming on the market in the next few months, due to owners dying, or moving into care homes.

Today, I am off to Doctors for jabs, then to the outdoor Food Festival. Always something going on locally or me.

Glad you got to it Franbern, not sure I'd go up it even if the lift had been working! I agree it is ugly and unnecessary, the money could have funded a lot of essential projects.

So I visited the SeeMonster. Note it has a lot of coverage on national news. Its was.......Interesting!!!! Could not go onto any of the platforms as the single lift had already stopped working!!!! Tomorrow it opens to the general public, hope they manage to get this repaired before that. It should have opened last March. Then the date was August........

One of the ten special items funded centrally (£160,000,000 of taxpayers money), as part of Unboxed, which started life as the Brexit Festival???

Rather like that, it is very expensive, nobody is quite sure what it is for, ugly and unnecessary. This will all be taken down again in six weeks time, sadly the same cannot be said for Brexit.

Got interrupted whilst reading the posts earlier, phone call, then took doggie for a walk in the park, then a stroll on the beach, beautiful calm sea, 9 coconuts bobbing on the shore, managed to grab one, getting my toes wet. I've picked them up before and they are perfect inside, where they come from, I don't know

I have got the heating on It seems having the floors done has also helped with the condensation. I've been running the humidifier in the back bedroom, which only has one large opening window and I'm nervous to leave that open and locked - collected less than 2L. Early days though!

This labyrinthitis is a pain and I've just changed the dog's water and nearly head butted the wall, I thought I was a bit better today!

Having the full sized plum tree chopped down today, I'm sorry to see it go but the garden is the size of a postage stamp, not sure who planted it.

Razz 13 degrees is far too low. Nothing to do with whether or not you are used to it. A living room should be around 18 degrees. People who are ill with, even die from hyperhermia usually do not feel themselves getting colder and colder. Please put heating on. Just wearing warm clothing or covers is not good enough. No point in having savings put away if you are too ill (or worse) to benefit from them.
Hope you are arranging to see your GP. From what you describe sounds like Labrynthitis.
When you are not well, and less mobile than normal even more important to be in a warm environment.

Fran is right Razz put your heating on. I put my heating on for an hour on Sunday, just to take the chill off and then for a few hours on Monday as we were just sitting watching the Queen's funeral. Not put it on since as it seems to be warmer ow, but couldn't stand it under 19`

Just catching up, still a lot of posts to read. I had a very upsetting incidence last week which has knocked me sideways, still trying to recover but never will.

Just wanted to say to Razz about her vertigo. I had that a few years back, came out of nowhere, I was laying down and couldn't get up, I was teaching a class and had to finish sitting on the floor. Had it for 11 weeks! It started just before I was leading a yoga retreat in Crete, too near to cancel, certain postures I couldn't do or I'd pass out, like full wheel & Fish. Turning in bed I had to do in stages and had to hold onto the walls to get to the bathroom. It was awful! Hope you are ok now Razz

Nathan welcome to this thread. I assume you do not live in UK - Real Estate is a very American term.
Here we have Estate Agents, who act on behalf of the seller, it is a long drawn out process. Would be purchasers can make offers around the price being requested. If the seller accepts their offer, then there is a long lengthy process in which conveyancing Solicitors act for both parties, separately.

Although a price is agreed, there is no contract, and at any time either the buyer or seller can withdraw, or the seller can raise the price, or the buyer can lower their offer.

Conveyancing can take anything between three to six plus months, so a lot can change during that time. Questions after question is thrown at the sellers by the purchasers solicititors, some rather absurd. IF.......and it may never happen, but IF an agreement is finally reached then, Contracts get signed and Exchanged - and ONLY THEN can people not withdraw from this agreement.

As you will see if you read this thread and the previous ones, it rarely happens that way, and thousands of pounds get spent on Solicitors fees after a sale falls through - usually without any reason. Estate agents do not get paid until the sale actually happens, but Solicitors will invoice for fees for each and every abortive sale/purchase.

Solar panels are wonderful. My daughter near me had these put in their house about twelve years back. Paid for themselves plus a lot more. Her hubbie, now has a fully electric car, so he is really laughing as it charges up for practically nothing with these panels on the roof. Her car is a hybrid so still needs some petrol. She is a very 'always cold person' (told me yesterday she has put her winter duvet on her side of the bed), so, there is no way they economise with heating.

Feeling pleased with myself as just after she left me yesterday (came for her weekly evening meal and chat), I turned on my tv and got a blank screen. Instead of going immediately into panic and phoning her for SiL to come round, I took it slowly and calmly. Checked all connections, turned off and on and 'fiddled' with remote control. Discovered I had accidently pressed a button which took it OFF the Humax - pressed correct button and -Heigh Presto- all was well again. My eldest daughter is always very disapproving that I call for help far too soon and do not try to sort things out for myself any more. She will be pleased when I tell her that I did this myself.

Razz glad you have a firm diagnosis. This is a nasty illness, and can be very debilitating. You are obviously pretty run down, not surprising with everything you have been through this year. It really is even more important now that you look after yourself, good food, regular eating habits, and regular sleeping, keeping warm. Holidays are fine, if you like that sort of thing - but put away the ice cream and make sure your diet has plenty of fruit and vegetables. That is the best way to return to good, on-going health.

Nice to hear from you Spice, as you approach summer, we are preparing for winter. Clocks change at end of October here. At present we having a lovely September, sunny and quite mild (in the South), But I am watching the trees from my living room, and can see the leaves coming off them.

Have now heard that my Brother in law and SiL have got a completion/moving date for the end of the month. They were the perfect 'Escape to the Country' type couple, when they moved from NW London to Suffolk seven years ago. Total disaster it has been, and they are now moving back to a house less than half a mile away from where their previous London home was.

Some brightness in the garden. The jonquils in the centre of the tulips were given to us as daffodil bulbs. OOOps! but they fill a gap.

Good to catch up with all the news. Karmalady hope your new satnav is fully up and going now. Satnav's are much easier than trying to find directions on a map. Unless of course as has happened they get it wrong. Fortunately not too often in my experience.

Razz glad you were able to see a doctor and now have an idea of what is wrong. Hopefully things will clear up soon and you will be back to normal. We are fortunate that we are able to see a doctor quickly. OH rang the doctor this morning at 8.45 and was given an appointment for 9.30. It was not our usual doctor but the same clinic. We thought he might have cellulitis so rang and told them that. The doctor does not think it is cellulitis but has given him antibiotics to use if it does not clear up. We still have the option of phone appointments but can easily get face to face appointments.

Good to hear your journey went well Franbern and great that you had the confidence to stay in your chair. Most of those chairs have stops to prevent them from tipping but it still takes confidence to put them to the test. Also doing new things as you get older is harder.

We had our first electricity bill since we put the solar panels up about halfway through the billing cycle. I'm glad to say our bill was almost $200 less than usual. Given that this was for 7 weeks and in the depths of a cold grey winter I'm looking forward to seeing further reduction in the coming months. We think our electricity bills will be at least half of what they have been if not more. They would be far less if we didn't have the pool which we never wanted as that uses 2 pumps that run for several hours a day

Our weather is still wet and cold although we are now starting to see some warmer days and the daylight hours are getting longer. We change the clocks on the 1st October weekend after next which just seems crazy. It will be 2023 before we know it..

Doctor did all sorts of tests (which have really sent me off balance, was like a drunk walking back to the bus stop. She said she thinks it is labyrinthitis caused by a virus, because I've had the pattern of good/bad days. Well spotted Franbern! I'm not to take the Stugeron any longer and she's phoning me in a week to follow up. I asked about diabetes, I've also got a blood test booked in for 10 October. Considering how pressurised the doctors are I did feel listened to and I feel reassured it's not cardiac related. I am glad to stop taking and recording my BP.
