I am in the process of doing exactly the same thing. Like DerbyshireLass the house in the country is sold and we hope to exchange contracts soon. The plan is to rent a lock up and leave in the buzz of the city. Then we plan to travel, hopefully doing some of it as 'house sitters' looking after peoples pets and homes whilst they're away which sounds fun and interesting. All a bit nerve wracking and fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants....but when I think about it I get a bubble of pure excitement.

I'm just about to do the same. I am downsizing. Have sold my house and keeping ? it all goes through ok.

My master plan is to rent for a while whilst I search for my next onward purchase. No hurry, because I want to get it right.

I’m pleased it worked out for you, MissOoops has had to move 4 times in the last 8 years as the Landlord has either wanted to sell the property or the Landlord has moved back and wants to live in the house.

It’s been an awful lot of expense for her and it’s really messed up her Credit Rating.

That has worked out very well.
You live in London as do a few of us and before Covid we met regularly for coffee in Debenhams, Oxford Street but there are other GN meetings, depending on where you live.

It's good to hear you are happy and content in your new home stay positive.

By going to your son’s you had time to choose your flat and it sounds lovely.

Hopefully you’ll be able to renew your contract if not, then you could always travel round the country trying different areas.

We are all different and what works for one person may not work for another. For me, I like certainty so would find it worrying that I may not be able to renew my contract. That, together with service charges/ground rent would worry me I know. I guess if you have a good management company/landlord then it shouldn’t be a problem.
