Missing sheets?

I make hospital corners in the top sheet.

But I might get the sewing machine out to experiment.

Many thanks for all the replies! I am resisting getting the sewing machine out (which I had thought was my only solution) but the mention of hospital corners has made me think of trying out a flat sheet. Our current mattress is so heavy (think orthopaedic!) it MAY actually hold the sheet in place. Thanks Gransnet for all our help - and yes sodapop I like my sheets ironed too !

jackyB I like a bit of sheet flexibility at the foot of my bed. A sheet tailored to exactly fit the end of the bed would be too restrictive for my feet, hence the elastic

Same here aggie I only use flat sheets now as I hated ironing the fitted ones. Several of my friends do the same.

This would be the end of me! I not only pull out the sheet at the bottom and put my feet out but I loathe beds made up with a top sheet and a duvet.

karmalady what I would do. Make a channel to incorporate the bottom two corners and thread a piece of elastic through.

No need for elastic. Just sew the corners to fit the bottom end of the mattress and pull it over. If you elasticated it you might find the sheet rides doewn the bed. The elastic is only necessary when the top half is also fitted, so that the ends can pull against each other.

I do like a flat top sheet under a covered duvet, easier to change the bed without struggling with a duvet cover. I just push the end of the flat sheet under the heavy mattress

I don't know the prices of the company advertised in the screenshot, but if they make the sheets to measure, they might be quite dear.

You used to get them as one of a pair.

Used to have them years ago, they were such a good idea.

You can buy little straps to fit on the bottom corners of a flat sheet.
Not the same, I'm sure, but they might be worth a try.

I still have some of those, just the bottom corners are fitted - at least I think that’s what you mean. They are very useful, but I have no idea where I bought them from, I haven’t seen them round for ages, sorry.
