Anyone have Corian in the bathroom or kitchen

What is it ?

My daughter has had a new kitchen with white coriander worktop. Looks lovely but the sink has already gained an immovable stain!

Hard wearing, but it can stain if spills aren’t dealt with quickly. A friend has it and I’m impressed that his worktop and sink appear seamless. He said it was expensive and it had to be installed professionally.

We have had dark grey Corian work surfaces throughout our busy kitchen and two bathrooms for the past 20 years, including a kitchen sink with Corian sides and a stainless steel base. It has shrugged off everything thrown at it, and looks just about as good as it did when first installed. I would unequivocally recommend it.

I have Corian worktops in the kitchen, fitted only 3 months ago so I can't vouch for their long term durability. I was warned by several people - including the kitchen supplier ^ that a Corian sink would stain badly so the sink is stainless steel.
So far, it has lived up to my expectations; it's solid and beautifully made, easy to keep clean with a damp cloth and anti-bac spray and it looks great.

Yes I can recommend Corian, my worktops and sink are made of this. Mine have been in 11 years and are still like new. Any stains can be removed with Barkeepers cream or powder. Worth every penny even though very expensive.

Yes, we had white Corian worktops in our new kitchen The sink is Corian too. It does need cleaning more often but it can be cleaned. It is, I think, very good because there are no seams were water can seep in. As *harrigan" says, it is expensive but, in my opinion, worth it.

Actually, I think you'll find we are ahead of the trend. Everyone will be having them soon.

Had our black Corian kitchen worktops for 12 years. The only problem is scratches which are now spoiling island unit. We have a polishing kit but worried about using it - maybe a professional's job? Unlike granite, it can be revived.

We went for Corian worktops after having granite in kitchen before as we fancied a change and Corian had more choices colour wise, however I would def NOT go for Corian again. If you like neatness and tidiness in your kitchen without doubt avoid Corian, I deeply regret my choice. I have a big island which looks from a distance with the Corian worktop beautiful but close up it shows up everything little mark. When I'm serving up no matter on which worktop I always put a cover of some description on it to try and avoid any markings. It's just a pain I'm afraid. Given the choice of renewing worktops I without doubt go for granite, they maintain their looks with compromise.

We've wood kitchen worktops, granite bathrooms and islands.

I have Corian worktops in my kitchen. I am very happy indeed with it ! The work surfaces sweep up the wall , no joins ! Perfect. Particularly good at the back of the sink where water inevitably ends up!! So no water stains . Love it !

nobody-we have corian work surfaces. the main work surface that was used for food prep etc was getting scratched so we had a sheet of shatter proof glass made to fit the area. the glass may well scratch over time but replacing that isnt anywhere near as expensive as a new corian work surface.

apart from that issue we love our corian work surfaces and seamless sinks.

And I hadn’t even noticed. The curse of auto correct!

I have had it in the kitchen for worktops since 2013. It is absolutely brilliant. No marks. No stains. Looks good as new. Just excellent

I have a similar product to corian in two bathrooms. I have sinks and worktops in white, they clean easily and are very smart. I love them and when I come to replace my kitchen I'll have it instead of granite.

I am concerned about the comments on scratching.
My previous worktop fitted before we moved in in 2008 was shiny and was scratched all over and looked a complete mess and I hated it. It was dark blue in colour,
I am just wondering if positive comments have lighter colours and the marks don't show.
The worktop I have in the kitchen at the moment is laminate, it was fitted 7 years ago but now is showing dull marks in used areas.
I am so unsure as what to use in the kitchen and bathroom.

My daughter had white corian counters in her kitchen, big mistake as it stains really badly. A raspberry stain never did come out and a tea bag accidentally dripped on it leaving a permanent mark. She now covers it with t towels and glass cuttting boards to try and protect it. The company who installed it suggested the manufacturer did not polish it enough in the factory but who knows.
