Beach huts. Do you have one?

The beach huts in Southwold, Suffolk are up to £200,000.

We have some on our beach and only 2 or 3 out if about 12 are used regularly. They are rented, though , and the waiting list is about 7 years. It’s a shame they aren’t used more.

I had one for thirteen years, we all loved it, until neighbouring hut owners sold to people who just wanted to rent it out to others, resulting if someone was renting for the day, told all their friends consequently maybe twenty or so people would turn up with their families, you may be thinking I was an old misery, but it completely changed the wonderfulness of the place, never a place of tranquility as it had been. I sold it to someone who assured me she would never rent it out, have to say tho, made some serious money when I sold🙂

My brother in law has one. As Kitty said, that’s cheap.
One near me in Southend is up for £120, 000. We hire one for a week in the summer holidays.
Thankfully if the weather turns iffy I can walk home.

Very pricey with no amenities.

A colleague used to lend us his in Frinton, all gone in a big storm I believe. And I love the ones in Wells. But at that price- and without WC facilities, no, lol.

That seems a very reasonable price compared to some I've seen.

I just remember when my grandparents lived on the Sussex coast they had friends who lent them theirs. I, aged about 5 would be in 7th heaven imagining myself living in it. The grandparents, from what I can remember made cups of tea and sat outside looking at us children playing on the beach. Yes a helluva price these days, highly coveted. I do view them longingly when down in Bournemouth and its environs. What would I do with one, much the same as what most owners do sit outside with a book and use it to the max on sunny days, but yes essentially a pretty shed.

I’ve always had a yearning to own a beach hut.
A pristine row of huts is such an iconic picture of the seaside.
There is a hut advertised on Rightmove on a lovely stretch of coastline 40 miles from where I live. It’s priced at ‘offers over £48,000’ . No plumbing.
What would I do with it? Is it just a pretty shed? What do you do with yours?
