You know the one- everything from jam pot covers to used batteries to rubber bands and picture hooks. The tape measure I can understand - but why the glasses case? I haven’t worn that pair for years.
I challenge you to reveal the contents of “the” kitchen drawer in your house!
(Kittylester is temporarily excusedgrin )

This is the one in my living room. I have a whole chest of drawers in the spare (junk) room! I think I win the prize for the untidiest! smile

In my small flat where drawer space is at a premium,I use a redundant airing cupboard for all of lifes junk.

In my drawer is the first aid box. SIL howled when he needed a plaster. One yellowing packet of Elastoplast one roll off anti-allergy tape and a crepe bandage! He said Florence Nightingale would have had more.
Now I'm wondering where I can put two redundant crutches and a knee-high moon boot, they will not fit into the "Drawer'.confused

Kittye

I have a “ drawer “ in most rooms not just the kitchen! 😩

I have one in every room i think.... but not in the kitchen! grin

I totally forgot about THE drawer in the design for my new kitchen 6 months ago. I don't have one any more because the kitchen is all larder cupboards and extra deep double width drawers. There are two wide slim drawers hidden within the units, but they hold the cutlery.
But panic not, my not very old kitchen was refitted in the laundry room, so THE drawer has moved itself into there. Phew!

Too tidy - doesn’t qualify! gringrin

🤣

There are a few that are too tidy. That isn't in the job description for 'The Drawer'.grin

toscalily Sun 03-Sept-23 10:10:50

There are a few here that contain cutlery, do they qualify? surely it has to be for odds & bobs, then there are the ones that are so neat and tidy giving us all a complex And of course they have to contain a loose screw or two.

I'm so sorry for you Down to earth I hope you are recovering well. If they give out new ones to everyone it must be costing the NHS a fortune. The crutches are lying in our porch at the moment I was thinking of maybe at the back of a wardrobe.
The boot is unfortunately back on my foot.
Your toilet seat could be donated to the Gurning Competition that takes place every year at Egremont in Cumbria.
I'm sorry you are going to need them again, the other hip? At least I will hopefully be able to put the plastic parts in the Recycle which I have just thought are black so I won't.

downtoearth Sun 03-Sept-23 18:42:36

Bella yes the other hip.
Perhaps I should take up girning, grinwith the exception of the crutches I bought all equipment myself, will keep as as I get older might need again, just nowhere to put them.

Amazed at how tidy everyone's is! We call ours "The drawer of all things lost" - quite a mouthful I know but it certainly defines the contents.

I agree with SueDonim!

No photos- but I have got more than one ;)

Yes, kitchen drawer fit to burst. Everything from keys/key rings to the remains of an ancient tube of Polo mints, bits of string, used birthday cake candle... Whenever one of us loses something the other says "have you looked in the kitchen drawer?" To which the answer usually is "I'd rather not, thank you".

My husband has a drawer like this in the kitchen to go with the eleven drawers he has upstairs and three barns full of crap potentially useful stuff. There is nothing of mine in there.

Fairycakes Mon 04-Sept-23 13:43:21

No idea - I can't get into it! 😄

Fairycakes Mon 04-Sept-23 13:46:33

It's my husband's 'man drawer' as he calls it. I've been asking him to declutter it for years, but no luck so far 🙄

lizzypopbottle Mon 04-Sept-23 13:51:39

I'm amazed but mine seems to have mostly food related stuff! Foil, greaseproof, freezer bags mostly. I don't think the torch works. That was a discovery I didn't know was there! Ha! No batteries in the torch!

Hetty58 Mon 04-Sept-23 14:01:39

I don't have a drawer like this in the kitchen - or anywhere else in the house. Those 'things that might come in useful' (but don't) live in the garage, in boxes. Every now and then, I leave a box outside for any takers.
