Do you plan to leave a few fairy lights up after Christmas? I shall keep a little twinkle in the kitchen and a little sparkle in the dining room, maybe more!
Someone posted a lovely pic of their beautiful houseplant festooned with lights a few weeks ago and it looked so pretty and inspiring. I can do with a bit of cosy this time of yearsmile

I’m hoping to take down my Xmas decs tomorrow- I don’t have many…

Grandmadinosaur Mon 01-Jan-24 20:21:02

Yes I shall be leaving a string of lights up on my mantelpiece.

Me too! Have festooned some on a twiggy type arrangement in a big vase and have decided to keep them for the comforting twinkle.😃

We always have fairy lights up

JaneJudge Mon 01-Jan-24 20:23:18

Honestly fairy light your house it really makes it lovely 😊

Yes - I put some round a mirror in the hall and I’ll definitely leave those up. I may leave the string of lights I put along the conservatory window. We need more light

Remember LED lights use less energy too rather than putting the big light on or a lamp

Redrobin51 Mon 01-Jan-24 20:33:58

Yes we leave one set up as they look more like flowers so suitable for any time of the year.x

I have fairy lights on my very large Swiss cheese plant. They have been been in place since last Christmas. I shall leave them there as they look so pretty.

I’ve taken down my Christmas stuff now but I have battery candles to use indoors and I’ve got some solar powered lights I’ll put up outside when the weather permits.

I have fairy lights in my garden room all year round.

I also put lights in a red glass vase and have decided to keep them there - they look so lovely and Cosy.

I have some in the log burner , I never light it , but the wee lights make it look warm !

Visgir1 Mon 01-Jan-24 21:48:26

Always have fairy lights somewhere in the house, through out the winter months.

PestyOne Mon 01-Jan-24 21:55:00

Great idea to leave the fairy lights somewhere for a while - weaning off the bare & empty look once the Christmas decorations come down 👍.
I was planning to take decorations and the tree down tomorrow, so will maybe find a pretty vase to house my battery lights for a little while 😊

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 01-Jan-24 21:55:05

No, but I do use a lot of candles.

I have some butterfly fairy lights that my husband brought back from a work trip to japan years ago that are wrapped around the upstairs banister all year

Am leaving the fairy lights up on my artificial fig tree. It brightens up my sitting room. Am rather wary of fairy lights though as I bought a set of red ones on ebay last year to put on my logburner so it would look cosy. After I had them for a couple of weeks I plugged them in one night and they went on fire! Luckily I was in the room at the time so no damage done. I would never buy a cheap set online again.

I’m keeping mine up to cheer the village it’s been hard times for many

Harris27 Mon 01-Jan-24 22:21:18

Lovely thread felt a bit sad taking my decs down today.

Casdon Mon 01-Jan-24 22:26:32

Yes, I’ve got some on the top of a big mirror, and some on twigs in a vase which I will be leaving up, they cheer up th house.
On the subject of battery operated candles, I use the bigger ones and they are good, but I’ve found the battery tea lights to be absolutely pathetic, they don’t even give out enough glow to see they are on through the tea light holder. Has anybody found any effective ones?

I have fairy lights up all year, in the kitchen, hallway, living room and dining room, also small lights in some decanters and jars dotted around,
The Christmas lights will be put away tomorrow.
