Washing bio gel or quid in the drum

Bought a Beko washing machine and been using a gel or liquid detergent in a dosing ball into the drum, I’ve read it should always go in detergent drawer, I did this but there was residue left in the drawer.
What do others do.

Always put the gel straight into the drum, in the dosing thing. Fabric conditioner goes in the appropriate compartment in the drawer.

My washing machine is a Bosch self-dosing model so has the washing liquid and fabric conditioner poured directly into the 2 compartments in the drawer. Personally I find it makes extra work. The drawer needs removing for regular cleaning to remove residue and is difficult to dismantle for me. I have an engineer coming tomorrow as the fabric conditioner isn't being released into the drum. I am going to ask him about using a dosing ball. Easier all round.

I’ve got one of those, too, but have always put ordinary powder into the drum, and soda crystals in the dispenser drawer.

I used to use gel pods but stopped after reading how they (and conditioner) clog up the machine with gunk. So I don’t use conditioner any more either - which means fewer plastic bottles to recycle, too.

On the Formil Bio instructions, which I have never read before it says never to use the drum, I bought Bio by mistake, it’s either throw it or use it. I never use the drawer, but as it’s telling me not to I will finish this bottle of, although I’ve never seen whites so clean and go over to a liguid you can use in machine.

The draw goes through the dish washer and comes out squeaky clean

Liquid or gel goes in the drawer - Beko. Never use softener, as this is a very soft water area.

Allsorts - I also read the instructions. Some say in the drawer and some say in the "ball" in the drum.
I assume they have run tests both ways... so why not do what they suggest?

Exactly! That is why I use Formil liquid in the drawer and Daz gel in the drum. That is what the instructions say.

Liquid in the drum here. The drawer is such a faff to remove that I’m scared I’ll snap it! I’m probably missing something here, but I don’t know why it’s necessary to use the drawer other than if you use fabric softener or other treatments. We never use fabric softener.

it's so that the detergent is mixed with water before it hits the clothes, otherwise it just might damage them, cause streaks, if a neat lump or blob of detergent is on the clothes before the water reaches them.
best to read instructions and follow them.

Yes, this 👍

I put the gel pod in the drum before the clothes go in. I don't like fabric conditioner but do use dettol laundry liquid. My DH has a weird skin condition and was advised not to use Lenor or Comfort.

I use a gel but I find that it doesn’t always rinse out well if I use a short eco- program, so I dilute the gel in a spare bottle 50/50 and use this in the drawer.
