Dishwasher advice

I have a Miele - bit pricey but does the job including roasting pans, casserole dishes etc.

Take a look at Blomberg appliances - mid range. My washing machine lasted 12 years with no repairs during that time. Fridge freezer is on year 10 and dishwasher about 6 years so far.

The tablets you use make a big difference. We get excellent results from Aldi ones. The most expensive. 3 in 1.

We discovered the reason for our dishwasher not cleaning was because the waste pipe was too long, too narrow and didn’t have enough fall leading eventually to a blockage 8’ down the pipe. The waste was backing up into the dishwasher and washing machine. Luckily the blockage was near a hatch in the floor otherwise the kitchen floor would have had to come up. The plumber recommended we ran hot water for 10 minutes every week to keep it clean and we are even more careful about fat and changed from loose tea to bags.

Just saying it might not be the dishwasher that is at fault

I have a Curry’s own make dishwasher, cheap and cheerful but it does a great job.

I had had my Bosch for quite a while, would definitely get another one when that day comes.

My dishwasher is a Montpellier MIDI700. It's built in under the draining board. My husband bought it to replace our Bosch which had stopped working.
It is a make I hadn't heard of but it cleans the dishes beautifully.

Mine is an AEG, can't fault it.

I’ve found with all my dishwashers (3 in 40 years) two of the cheapest tabs work better than one of the most expensive (and supposedly better) ones.

Bosch every time. Pay extra if necessary pay more for a cutlery tray.

I use Fairy Platinum and don't need to use salt or conditioner.

We currently have a Bosch, eight years old.
We use whichever branded dishwasher tablets are on offer, currently Finish Powerball Ultimate.
However, we live in a very hard water area and because of that the recommendation on the packet is to still use rinse aid and salt.
It does make a big difference.

The Bosch Series 6 SMV6ZCX10G currently comes out top in reviews. £700 but energy rating B so good energy savings over time.

I always buy Bosch or Neff products. Same company. They last for years.

Our tiny kitchen only has space for a slimline dishwasher. We bought Siemens. Cleans perfectly, holds a surprising amount, no repairs in 12 years. It seems most people are happy with the make of dishwasher they use. Perhaps you’ve just been unlucky sikipoo, hope the next one is better.

We had a Miele for years which was much better than our original Bosch as the Miele one had cutlery tray rather than the baskets. We gave it to a local charity, who run food kitchens for the homeless and also provide cookery classes to help people prepare food from scratch rather than use UPF all the time. As it’s just the two of us now, I don’t miss the dishwasher at all.

My Bosch has a cutlery tray. There are 2 of us mostly but I couldn't contemplate not having a dishwasher.

I’ve been very happy with my Bosch slimline dishwasher. We’ve had it for just over 22 years. Sometimes I find dishes haven’t cleaned properly but running an empty wash with some dishwasher cleaner sorts that out. However, as you say regular cleaning doesn’t sort the problem, perhaps it’s a faulty machine?

Mine was less than brilliant until I changed to more expensive tablets, like Primrose53. It’s perfectly fine now

All my kitchen appliances are Neff, fitted new by the builders of this estate in 2002 & still going, think they had a contract or bought a job lot.

Don't bother with a Hi-Sense, it is so temperamental. It drives me mad.

Another Bosch owner here. I've had it for 10 years now, and the previous one was also a Bosch, that lasted about 20 years. I use the cleaning pods from Aldi, no salt or rinse aid needed.

I in 40 years have had 4 dishwashers! Aniston excellent and it did go on and on...lol Replaced after 15 years with an expensive Zanussi lasted 13 months,just out of warranty...advised to get a new one as part was expensive. Bought a cheap Beko lasted about 10 years really good, bought another Beko,still have it and still working great. Moral of story expensive not necessarily the best!

Another satisfied Bosch owner here. Opening the hole for the salt is becoming tricky and annoying now I can't kneel, or see properly, and DH can't get up from kneeling (!) so I've just started using the Fairy Platinum tablets.
