Read a high up electricity meter

My electricity meter is high up on the inside of my garage wall.
I need a torch and stool to read it. The gas one is at normal height. Also the digits are tiny. I do not want a smart meter. At the moment the stool is fine and also my husband reads it most of the time. I am just thinking about the future when I am not so agile.. Does anyone know if there is a telescopic tool which I could point at it to read the digits. I have looked and I cannot find anything. The digits on this meter are so small its silly. At my last house I had an old fashioned black meter with the spinning wheel. The numbers on that were so big and clear. The gas meter digits are big as well. Any ideas?

Take a photo with your phone on zoom. I have the opposite my electric meter is on the floor in hall cupboard.

She doesn't have a phone with a camera

In my case M0nica whilst it's annoying to have your meter so high up it does mean you never see it on a day to day basis - so it doesn't spoil our pretty Victorian porch.

Sometimes we make choices that don't make a lot of sense in some ways because they make things harder for us...
If I was living alone I suppose I'd be forced to rethink...

You need a periscope. A teenager who is handy could make you one with cardboard and 3 mirrors. At least I think its 3

Just get a smart meter.

Saves so much hassle and you can monitor your fuel usage.

We had to have our meters changed as they were the RTS type. We are with Octopus who changed the meters and fitted a small type of SMART meter which works with the Octopus App. No more having to get down to floor level to squint at those tiny figures. Haven’t had any issues.
I doubt it could be used to control fuel supply as that is done at national level and having a SMART meter makes no different.
Maybe ask your supplier how they can help if you can’t safely or easily read the meter?
