Tiny saucepans

I’m boiling 2 eggs* in a pan that measures just over 11 cm across. We bought it in a shop in Majorca, and I can’t help wondering why I never see any such thing here - though I dare say they’re available online.
It means less water to heat up, and the smallest hob is fine, so less gas is needed.

*for my zero-carbs brunch - will mash with a little mayonnaise, S&P and a smidgeon of butter.

I'm sure I saw one in Dunelm a while ago. I have a propensity to burn things that I put on the hob and forget, so I'm always buying new small pans but I tend to buy the smaller of a normal three set. If I do see a smaller non milk one next time I'll buy one.

A greek coffee pan would be ideal.

I've got a tiny saucepan from Aldi which is just big enough to boil three eggs or a single portion of peas. At the same time I bought a frying pan which will fry one egg. I bought them about ten years ago but I'm sure they still have them from time to time.

I have 3 small saucepans. I bought in Sainsburys !
Very useful for just me. Veg, potatoes etc

Mine are also from Sainsbury's, I use them all the time, they're perfect for small portions.

I so agree. I'm on my third in over 30-years. Wouldn't be without it.

Apart from perfect boiled eggs (1 to 7, soft, medium, hard) I often hardboil a batch for egg mayonnaise sandwiches (mixed with chopped salad onions and grated cheese) when I'm having guests for Afternoon Tea the following day.

Some years ago you could buy boilers for just one or two eggs. They were bright yellow and the tops were shaped like a chicken's head (but prettier!!). It's was a favourite gift of mine to buy for a child's first birthday (the two egg one if they had a sibling).

Always gratefully received but I don't know if they're available now.

They are often on offer here in Germany at Aldi or Lidl. I like the Aldi "Crofton" pans. Only this week you can get a selection of 20 cm pans

20 cm is 8 inches. Even the 18cm pot is fairly large. I found a lovely small pot at Poco in Germany
, about 10cm.

John Lewis I meant.

Seapebble Tue 19-Aug-25 14:32:54

As an alternative to Amazon, John Lews have a lidded "sauce pot" - really good quality with a 20 year guarantee (longer than I'd probably need heheh) at a pricey £35 or from Dunelm - a lidded milk pan for £22. Both are 12cm. I agree that small pans are so good to have on hand.

I got mine in TKMax. I find they are very good for 'unusual' things.

I know exactly what you mean Witzend as I use the same for boiling eggs. Bought mine in one of those shops that sell everything many moons ago.

The handle on mine was getting dodgy and it was riveted on so I no screws to tighten - I replaced it with this -

Just another fan of electric egg boilers. Have had one for nearly thirty years (Not same one). So quick to use, I have soft boiled eggs (2) most days for lunch and I come in from wherever I have been in the morning, and two eggs in this, make a mug of tea with my hot water tap, butter a couple of slices of bread and I have my lunch ready in less than five minutes.

So just over an inch in difference does it really make that much difference Whitzend ?

RosieandherMaw Sat 16-Aug-25 15:11:23

I have a teeny tiny frying pan probably more suitable for a toy kitchen, bought on Amazon where I misread cm for inches! blush
You can make an individual (undersized) pancake on it or fry one egg though.

BlueBelle

Are you looking for what we always called a ‘milk saucepan’ if so they have plenty on Amazon for about a tenner

No, I’ve always had one of those. This pan is quite a bit smaller. 11 cm is just over 4 inches. A normal milk pan (like mine) is 15 cm.

NotSpaghetti Sat 16-Aug-25 11:58:43

Judge make a 12cm one -

There are lots on Amazon by the way.
I didn't look at lakeland but they may have one.

NotSpaghetti Sat 16-Aug-25 11:46:44

A milk pan is different.
My mother-in-law's has a lid.

crissy Sat 16-Aug-25 10:33:50

Camping and outdoor shops do small pans.

Aveline Sat 16-Aug-25 10:18:59

It does poached eggs too

Aveline Sat 16-Aug-25 10:18:28

I'm another fan of egg boilers. So quick and easy and v economical too. Same price as a pan.

twiglet77 Sat 16-Aug-25 09:51:25

I’m sure there were tiny saucepans in Aldi and possibly TK Maxx, certainly even the supermarkets have tiny frying pans.

MiniMoon Sat 16-Aug-25 09:19:04

I don't boil eggs in a saucepan. I bought an electric egg boiler. It holds 7 eggs, but I boil 1 or two. It came with a little measuring cup for the water. Best thing I've bought in a long time.

JackyB Sat 16-Aug-25 08:17:41

I suppose they're more frying pans than mik pans but the one on the right is quite deep.lk
