Small (mini) fridge.

Has anyone bought a very small fridge suitable for a bedroom for example?
I am sleeping very poorly in my old age and often fancy a cup of tea, or two, in the night.
It is quite a trek from my bedroom to the fridge which I isn’t even in the kitchen but in the utility room and at night I am not very steady on my feet.
I also have a house full presently and don’t want to disturb with switching lights on.
I have a kettle and tea bags in a jar but I am not enjoying the milk even on cold nights.
I thought about a mini fridge but reviews I have read are not inspiring.
Can anyone help?
Please don’t suggest a vacuum flask, it tastes like dishwater to me.

What about UHT milk pots.. they are long life and don’t take up much room..
I drink my tea black which would totally solve your problem 😂

UHT milk tastes awful in tea.

Have you thought about using a baby milk bottle cooler bag, I had one when my children were small, and it kept milk cool for hours?

Sorry, should have added, I’ve got a camping cool box which you plug in, we use it as extra cool storage for bottles and cans at Christmas. It works well, but the fan is audible, which could also be an issue with a mini fridge?

There are loads of mini fridges on Amazon, some of them are really small and seem to me to be just what you’re looking for.. I had one years ago which I found excellent for cold drinks and milk, but it was a while ago and I can’t remember the make.
I’m sure you’ll find just what you need on there. (I have no personal or career connection to Amazon, by the way! Only that I buy things from them all the time and have had no trouble).

My concern, if you sleep poorly, would be the fridge motor going on and off in the night.

Also, it seems an expensive way to keep a very small amount of milk chilled.

I would have thought a small carton of milk popped in a picnic cooler bag with a freezer pack would suffice for overnight if you really insist on having cold milk.

But why do we need cold milk for a hot liquid? Room temperature should be fine. In fact, room temperature milk is best for tea because it prevents the milk proteins from denaturing and forming a skin, which can affect the tea's flavour and texture. Denaturing of milk proteins affects digestiion too. Look up denaturing and acid reflux.

Thank you all for your replies which I shall consider.
It was just the milk going off which bothered me, not the temperature.

I would go with Yorklady - take a small flask of tea (without milk) upstairs and when you fancy a cuppa, pour your self one and add the little pot of UHT milk. The tea has never tasted awful to me.

Btw I bought a lovely little flask especially for my coach trips …can’t remember from where - probably Amazon

Could you take the old milk in a flask ? I agree tea made and stored in a thermos tastes awful as does UHT little pots . When DH and I stayed in hotels overnight I put cold milk in a thermos and it was fine.

I have checked out small flasks on Amazon and will order one.
Thank you all for replying.

I love our mini fridges all from Amazon. . We have three. One in the kitchen is mainly for yogurts and drinks. The make is Ice Q . DS works from home and has one in his office mainly for cold drinks and GS has one in his bedroom in which he keeps his energy drinks(😒) and milk ( he likes full cream for “bulking” and wants to stop other people drinking it😂)

I had to buy a small fridge to keep my injections at the right temperature. My integrated one in the kitchen tends to freeze the contents in hot weather, making it unsuitable. The little fridge is too noisy for a bedroom in my opinion, so it is black and stands in the living room where it is also useful for cold drinks (non-alcoholic).
I hope you find a solution to your problem.

I bought one the other year as my fridge is tiny and I often need a bit of extra fridge space. But unfortunately it didn’t work in my utility room in winter as it gets too cold. I think it’s quite noisy but I stupidly bought one with a small freezer compartment, though, which wasn’t needed and was a big mistake; I think that’s what makes it noisy. If it wasn’t for that I’d probably run it throughout the summer.I was worried about how much electricity it uses but I read that mini fridges and freezers are very energy efficient.

If you are still thinking of a mini fridge my DGS recommends his Northclan one which can be bought for about £45 on eBay. He says it is quieter if you use the eco setting.

You only need a small amount in a jug. It should keep cool enough on the window sill for one night. Use a china or glass jug and it should be OK. Preferably with a lid.

Buying a fridge specially seems a rather over the top solution.
