My latest is losing the stray sock. I live on my own and not even an animal to blame.

I have been known to bring the washing off the maiden from upstairs if it had been raining,
place back in the washer and do it again. 😂

& me. So annoying if husband forgets to bring it in.

Do you not have a pause button? Usually button with two lines, could be near your on/off switch.

I shall look out for a programme that allows me to add dropped items when I have to replace my washing machine. I carry the washing in a basket but still socks manage to escape. Drives me witless.

My washing machine is about 6 years old and not an expensive make. There is a facility to stop the programme and open the door to insert dropped items. That is frequently used in this house!
Alternatively you could bring dirty laundry to the machine in a basket. Then you’re less likely to drop anything!

I loved my old top loader... but when we moved thete was no space for it.

My machine gives me a ten minute window where I can add the sock
At least it seems about that time ,I t won’t open if the water has started to heat I think

That is why I loved my Hotpoint top loader washer.
Anything dropped or forgotten could just be added at anytime.
I had two but when the last one stopped working I replaced it with a front loader.
They used a lot of water but I think they washed better.
I don’t know if they are still made.

I do this all the time, sometimes its a pair of drawers, rather than an errant sock. But boy does it make me spit....

No you're not the only one but in my defence when I do miss a sock, it's usually because our Cockapoo has it in her mouth.

I've just collected the washing from the basket upstairs, carried it downstairs and loaded the machine. Added detergent and conditioner. Selected the programme. Turned around and there it is ... the one sock that didn't make it. I grab it, turn back just as I hear the machine door lock. Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this.
