Mattress topper

I see there Panda one does have a sleep trial. Even then it isn't easy to return in my experience as you have to find much bigger packaging! Not impossible, but tricky.

Get the PANDA one it is lovely.Comfy.and you can take off the outer cover to wash it.Bit pricier than some but worth it, doesnt overheat, and if you register it its got a 10year gaurantee.My son asked them about his after about 5 yrs as he thought it had gone a bit thin on one edge, they had him return it and they sent him out a brand new one.So great customer service.

This is me- they let my son return his just folded& wrapped in a black bin bag.

Yes, it is a ‘true sleep at home trial’ for 30 nights, using it on your bed as you normally would. The trial period for mattresses is 100 nights.
I’m not sure how you would go about returning a mattress as that is not my issue but I’m sure DH and I could get the items I have ordered into large bin liners (unused!) if we needed to.
I was interested to see that they also offer a 10 year guarantee against defects in materials or workmanship on the mattress toppers.
Im prepared to give it a go with an open mind and hope for the best.

After my heart op when i laid down EVERYTHING hurt thanks to hosp putting patients on those air mattresses(like folks have who are bedridden,to save getting bedsores) But it was agony for me and actually gave me backache.Id had to sleep sat up after that with 4pillows.So when home i made mistake of putting a 3cm puffy topper from silentnight ON TOP of my Panda one- yes it was a bit comfier at first but a few nights in i was so overheated it was ridiculous- i had to return it- it wasnt cheap it was over £60 at sale price.The Panda's start at 90/100 i think for single size.Rising slightly for bigger ones.I was pleased they have a small double as well for my brass bed.

Yes do Pigma, they really are good.With my cover i unzip the mesh bit and give a short wash, (30mins) as per pandas instructions for temp etc, then i laid it accross my heated airer to dry.(before that i would fold it & dry it on a radiator a few hours)

When my daughter had to reurn a double mattress she bought a pack of wheelie bin liners,opened some up to cover mattress& taped together where needed.Did the trick.I believe she even did that with a sofa at one point as well.

I have a special Social Services mattress for my pressure ponts and arthritis on my bed.

It overlays quite a thick ordinary bed mattress. So the whole caboodle is quite high and l am relatively small 5ft 3inches.

A bit like the fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea.

So it can be quite difficult and a bit hazardous getting in and out of bed.

Thought it was worth mentioning.

I'm in the US and I just found your query today. I've had a bamboo mattress topper for about 5 years. It absolutely made my foam mattress softer and cooler. It is also washable. I got it from Amazon.

Really looking forward to mine arriving and seeing what difference it makes. Fingers very crossed that I can get sorted before the warmer summer nights, I felt like I was boiling last summer.
Off track again but I wonder what the bedding will be like in terms of coolness. I’m a 2 pillow user and can’t see how 2 Pandas would work so I’m hoping if the topper works that the bedding might do the same job and I can keep my lovely down pillows.
Anyway that’s a thought for another day.
I’ll report back when I’ve done a trial run with the topper and duvet.

Bear in mind that you might need to buy some extra deep fitted sheets to accommodate the topper.

Yes! I had to buy deeper sheets after investing in a topper. Not bamboo, don’t know what’s in it (John Lewis) but it’s fine.

Dd and SiL had to get rid of a newly acquired memory foam mattress - found it far too hot.

I checked Amazon for results and frankly found the ones I saw expensive, also quite “high” my mattress is high already and as I have shrunk with age I almost need steps to get into bed, this is not an exaggeration.
I could do myself some real harm if I fell out of bed.
I do hope you find it a huge improvement though.

Also, every now & again, I turn my panda topper. Like you would with a normal mattress.

Oh yes do come back Pigma I have a Panda pillow, which took a long time to get used to, but I wouldn’t swap it now. I need a mattress topper now, hoping it might help my sciatica. Look forward to hearing from you.

I barely clicked that such things existed - until I went to a friends house recently and she has short elderly little dog and had bought them a set of steps to use to climb up to the sofa.

I can sympathise - as I'm supposed to be one-quarter inch under 5.4" (a height which suited me pretty okay) and then I shrank about 2" and I'm too short for my liking now and my recently bought bed is taller and I feel like I'm having to climb up into it...

We had a feather and down mattress topper which was very expensive. The trouble is that the feathers settle and squash and eventually, despite all the shaking, it became useless.

Interesting janipans as I thought that might be the case when I’ve seen them on TV shopping channels. I also wondered if the quills would poke through as I found they did on feather and down pillows. Mine are now pure goose down so no prickly bits, they are fabulous but cost an arm and a leg.

I bought a mattress topper from Panda about 18 months ago. Loved the feel of it but I developed backache about three months later. Removed the topper at once, but it took nearly a year to get rid of the lower back pain.
I have a Panda kingsize mattress topper for sale cheap if anybody wants to try one!

Well, my topper and duvet arrived this morning. Very fast service and very nicely packaged. They came together is a big box with the mattress protector so I’ll keep the box in case I need to return anything.
So far so good, the topper is laid on the top of my bed to open out and expand which it is doing . It will only be 5 cm high so will replace the memory foam one of the same size.
Hubby is out this morning but will help me get it on the bed properly this afternoon. The leaflet says it can take up to 36 hours to expand fully but you can sleep on it straight away which is good as I don’t have a spare bed to lay it on in the meantime. I’m surprised how much it’s already grown so I’m sure by tonight it will be fine.
I’ll report back tomorrow on my first night’s sleep, can’t wait!

I've recently bought a Cloudtopper one and am pleased with it so far. If I'd seen this thread in time I might have gone for a Panda one, but I hadn't heard of them when I got mine. My previous one was lovely when I got it (can't remember the brand unfortunately) but after a year or two it went clumpy and was very uncomfortable.

Funny that we are talking about Panda, next thing, emails from Panda with offers galore 😳

Back to report on night one with the new topper!
It felt very much like the memory foam topper in terms of comfort and depth (5cm).
I was unsure about the mattress cover when I unpacked it as it felt very crinkly and sounded rustly (is that a word?!) However, once on the bed it felt fine, lovely and smooth.
I had a surprisingly good night’s sleep as it usually takes me ages to drop off if there is anything different about my bed.
What I did notice this morning was thatI hadn’t had to throw off the duvet at all during the night or stick my legs out of the bed to cool them down and neither did I turn on the electric fan which I use every single night because I wake up hot several times. I got up once in the night for a loo stop but otherwise slept all night at a perfect temperature.
Now this may have just been a fluke or a bit of ‘mind over matter’ so I’ll leave it a few days and will then come back with a longer-term report just in case anyone is still interested!
As an aside, as I know it can be frustrating when people don’t stick to the point, the duvet is fantastic. Again it felt a bit crinkly and heavy when it came out if the box but not a bit of it. My old duvet was very puffy (and lumpy) and sort of flopped over me adding to the hot feeling. This one is super soft, flatter, and sort of drapes rather than flops. Just right.
Anyway I’ve kept all the boxes until the 30 night trial is over just in case but so far I’m impressed. The ten year guarantee is also very reassuring as they weren’t cheap but worth every penny if they do the trick.

I have a thick bamboo mattress topper itself topped with a blanket and find the temperature maintenance just right.

My bed too would be too high for comfort and safety but that I had the legs sawed as short as I required.
