Mattress topper

I can’t help with your query but will follow the thread hoping you get some answers.
I have a mattress with a top layer of memory foam and I find it so hot.
My legs seem to be burning on even the coldest nights, throwing the duvet off just makes me cold.
I have resisted changing the mattress yet but feel I shall have to if I can’t find a solution.
A cooling mattress topper sounds good.

Yes, you have my sympathies as this is exactly my problem. The company I have been looking at do mattresses as well but mine was expensive and in good condition, just too hard. The principle of a mattress topper has worked well in making the mattress more comfortable but you describe the heat/cold issues so well.
From what o read on the website I think a topper would solve your problem in a much cheaper way than having to buy a new mattress if they work as they say they do.
Let’s see if we get any response from anybody who has one. Fingers crossed!

Yes Panda topper are good. I don’t feel hot. I still have an electric blanket on mine, only on low.

I made a topper from a 13.5 tog duvet (polyester filled). I bought the size nearest to my mattress size and I sewed some strong elastic at the corners to hold it on.
It is beatifully soft and comfy, and not hot at all, and relatively inexpensive.

Might be the most realistic option for those who can't sew or don't want to do it.

I landed up buying one mattress topper for recent bed - not good enough. Left it on there and added another one = soft enough finally. But there is a temperature element to this and I'm not sure how well this will do come the summer.

MT62 - Panda are the ones I’m interested in, specifically for the ‘coolness factor’.
They also supply mattresses, pillows, duvets and bed linen, all with good reviews.
I think I’ll start with the mattress topper as that is what is causing my legs to overheat I’m sure and may then progress onto a duvet, etc. if the topper does the trick.
I am a fan of bamboo anyway, I have some lovely bamboo socks that I received as a present, they are silky smooth to the feel and wash and wear well.
I’ll have a bit more of a think about it and if I go ahead - pretty sure I will, they have a 3 month trial period so can’t really go wrong - I’ll report back on if it does the trick.

Bear in mind that you might need to buy some extra deep fitted sheets to accommodate the topper.

That’s the reason I avoid memory foam toppers. I don’t have bamboo but wool is very good for soft warmth in the winter and is also cool in the summer believe it or not. The important thing is to make sure to buy one with a decent depth.

The topper I have at the moment is 5cm which is the same as the bamboo one so should be adequate to ‘soften’ the mattress. Yes, I learned the hard way to buy extra deep fitted sheets!
I’ve heard good things about wool too so will keep that in reserve if the bamboo doesn’t work.
Thanks for the tip to shop around, I will, so far just looked at their website. I think I’ll go with it - after another uncomfortable night memory foam is definitely not for me!

Pure natural latex is the very best.

We recently went on a cruise and both had great sleep, when we investigated, the mattress topper was a puffy Bamboo with deep pockets all around for the mattress. I bought one from Amazon, it is fantastic!

Panda mattress toppers are great. Bought one for us, and also ones for grandchildren's bunk beds. Brilliant. I looked for best price and I think it was from 'Very' who I hadn't used before but were great.

I think it depends on the individual..my husband and have a very hard orthapedic mattress.Much better for your back.Not everyones choice..but suitable for us..and a better nites sleep..

I am looking at toppers too and was wondering about starting a thread on the subject. I need it for a Laura James sofabed which is really just a base, and want to be able to store the topper.
So far, a folding memory foam one on amazon which I sank in to, a feeling I hated. Then a Brightr Tital Firm, is a bit too firm and much too difficult to store.
I was thinking of trying a latex one next, maybe a 2.5cm one as it should be easy to roll and store, with maybe a duvet type on top of that.
Now I'm wondering would the Panda fit the bill? Would it be comfortable and store easily?

I strongly recommend a latex topper. I have one and it is excellent. I too found our memory foam topper far too hot and sweaty. I ended up giving it away to someone who wanted to try it out.

I have found a ripple mattress topper is super comfortable and not too hot - but realise it is very much an individual choice. However, here is a link to the one I am enjoying as others might find it suits them too:

I had a 5" deep goosedown king topper but it was hugely heavy and got dips in where I laid. I'd try to shake it or turn it. In the end I sent off for a Panda Bamboo one. The reason chose it was because I have an IKEA continental King Size bed which is a few inches wider and longer than the British ones. Panda do many sizes. They are much lighter, far more supportive, they dont get hot and sweaty. I do use a 2.0 tog summer duvet in the hot weather though. Currently I have a down 10.5 tog. I cannot recommend Panda enough.

So, I’ve bitten the bullet and ordered a Panda mattress topper, mattress protector and double duvet. All from the Panda website with. 10% discount and 30 day free trial. Should arrive within 2-4 days so I will feedback when they arrive and have been tested.
If I’m happy with them, and I appreciate it is a big investment, then I will order some bedding as well. I like the fact that the duvet is sewn into sections - should save all that shaking every morning! - and that it attaches inside the duvet cover so stays in place inside the cover. A bugbear of mine is that I either shake too much duvet up to the top of the cover or there is too much ‘bag’ flapping about round my neck with no duvet in it. Apologies, a bit off topic there.
I am hoping that the mattress topper does help to keep me cool and therefore helps me sleep better. Everything on their website has brilliant reviews and the feedback here has been encouraging too so I’m very hopeful.

That is good Pigma getting a 30 day trial. I don’t think they had a trial when I bought mine. Luckily, it was so comfortable☺️
