Can anyone recommend a washing liquid that does the job with out having to soak before washing.

It depends on the stain really. If it’s a grass stain then rub glycerine into the stain before putting into the washing machine. Otherwise for most stains Ariel is pretty good.

I like vanish soap bars over the spray strain remover.
Use mild warm water, rub on & Chuck in the washer. Great on all manor of stains.

There used to be a product called Stain Devils for specific laundry problems.

I've found rubbing the stain with a little Fairy dishwasing liquid can work well on a greasy type stain

I find repeated washing does the trick- I just wear the stained item indoors until the stain has washed out.

I only use Persil anyway.

IGNORE my comment above.

Sorry, senior moment.

I use Ace. Jut tip it on the stain and then wash as normal.

Coops74 Sun 15-Mar-26 16:38:40

I use Vanish spray always works for me.

If a stain is persistent I use a little Ariel made into a paste and applied with a toothbrush .
It can fade a fabric though if left on for too long .

Nannytopsy Sun 15-Mar-26 17:05:08

I use Ace too - rarely beaten

I've found Pink Stuff amazing

Have you tried Shout? I find that very good.

Washing up liquid gets most stains out.

MollyNew Sun 15-Mar-26 22:16:53

Washing up liquid and bicarb gets greasy stains out but you have to let it sit on the fabric for at least an hour before putting it in the washing machine.

Bukkie Sun 15-Mar-26 23:22:41

Fairy liquid left on the stain for a while before washing on a hot wash. I also find the sunlight fades any light stains.

I use Vanish spray always works for me.

I do too, I spray it as soon as possible after the stain happens and leave it on until the garment is laundered. It is in a pink spray bottle.

Washing up liquid gets most stains out.

It does indeed, if you put it on the stain and leave the clothes to dry completely before you wash them on the usual cycle and with the usual amount of laundry soap.

Any washing-up liquid will do the job and do it better than any and all the stain-removers we are urged to buy.

I use ALDI old fashioned washing Bio washing powder. As good as Ariel, not as perfumed and less than half the price

HMWALES Mon 16-Mar-26 15:52:07

Vanish Gold Oxi Action Gel Stain Remover Fabric Clothes Colour Safe 2250ml is definitely the best. I used to have a Hotel and we always used this. Best place to buy is Amazon as they sell the large bottle.
