Have you got a Roomba or similar robot cleaner and would you recommend it?
I fancy one that mops as well as vacuums.
There is quite a variation in price. I guess you get what you pay for.

I have got a Eufy that my son and daughter in law gave me when I was having some mobility problems. It doesn't have a mopping function but I'm really happy with it as it is. I don't use the mapping system, just set it to go and sometimes use the remote control to concentrate on certain areas.
They have come down a lot in price now and you can also get them on Ebay etc.

My friend bought one from temu.
She can see what its doing on her phone!
It mops too, and cost £90.

I have a Roomba that mops, cost about £150 in a sale. Vacuuming is excellent, mopping is ok, but I don’t feel it mops that well.

Ive got a cheapy one that just vacuums, and I'd recommend it.

Its enough that you could probably get by for a week without having to drag out the big vacuum and do anything.
And my flat is very messy, in terms of dust, and "bits", ordinarily.

I have the Aldi robo vac, it has a mop function but it could never never realistically mop properly.

It is however a brilliant vacuum cleaner.

I have a Dreame mop and vac.
I have all hard floors ( large rug in sitting room) downstairs.
I am happy with both the mopping and vacuuming functions.
It travels well over different levels .

I would say that it is important prepare before starting the robot .
I make sure there are no stray wires or things dropped especially under our raised sofa .
I use the app on my phone to start and keep track of the cleaning.

I'm considering getting a smaller cleaner with just the vacuum function for upstairs.

The downstairs loo is the only issue as cleaner is too large to be able to clean between the wall and toilet.

Do these Roomba's do corners and up to the skirting boards OK?

NotSpaghetti Wed 06-May-26 06:09:09

I have eufy ones.
I love them but mine don't mop.

My daughter has an eufy too and she uses it to mop. It doesn't scrub but does keep the dust and dirt at bay so her floors always look perfectly fine (if not sparkling!).

I don't think many will do skirting boards.
Mine are 12" high.

Oh I see you said "up to" the skirting boards.
Yes. Mine do - but about once a month I do go round the edges. It can't get behind our old "school" radiators so we take Henry and his "pointy suction end" to do those- I have 100% wool carpets in 3 rooms and need to be certain we have no moths.

I'm still looking for a stick vacuum to do the radiators and stairs.

I had a Eufy robot cleaner but it terrified my little cat so I gave it to my son and DIL.
They (family of four) use it downstairs, one room with wood flooring, the other with a lovely deep pile carpet. The cleaner works well on both surfaces. My DIL says it makes them tidier as she has to make sure the floor is clear of obstacles before the cleaner sets off. 🙄😄

Have two and ABSOLUTELY love them - both cheaper end of the market and they just bumble around randomly - but do a really good job. I’d say 5/5 on vacuum, 4/5 on mopping. I still like steam mop for really dirty floors.
I have Eufy and Ultenic

Yes, I'd say that's one of their good points.
They have spinning brushes which "beat" the skirting boards, cleaner and closer than most vacuums will go.

I have a Eufy. Mine is a simple vacuum and lives upstairs.
The brand has great customer service. It's easy to get parts if needed and they're simple to fit.

My daughter has two Eufys, one upstairs and one downstairs. They seem to work very well.

Nandalot Thu 07-May-26 13:51:23

I have a eufy which works well. However, I can only use it in the kitchen, hall and breakfast room. There are too many wires everywhere else so would take me too long to try and an arrange them off the floor!

ExaltedWombat Thu 07-May-26 15:09:29

They work quite well on floors that are so clear that manual vacuuming would be trivially easy.

KnittyNannie Thu 07-May-26 15:11:55

We have a Eufy - and I love it! Our resident grandson bought it for us when we told him that he should do a little more around the house to help! Very resourceful of him!

Notagranny44 Thu 07-May-26 16:54:25

I LOVE them! I've got an Eufy upstairs and an Ultenic one downstairs that also mops. I have only tried the mopping function twice and didn't think the results were worth the bother so don't use that now.
They have been a boon after I got too arthritic to use a manual cleaner and I would hate to be without them now. I agree they do make you tidier because of having to keep things off the floor.

NotSpaghetti Thu 07-May-26 18:23:10

I am untidy.... There I've said it!

If there's a jumble of wires somewhere I can't easily deal with I just block it off with a shopping bag or couple of cushions until the next day!

MissAdventure Thu 07-May-26 19:46:56

Mine eats cushions, mangles wires, and even pushes chairs around the room.

Thanks.

Yes, where DO all the bits come from? We are dusty because of the constant building on nearby farmland, but I can wipe and sweep and a short while later there are bits everywhere again!
