My trusty old Kenwood Chef. We did once have to get it repaired and serviced, but that can’t be bad for a present bestowed in 1974!

The only other present we still have is a lovely little Indian silver box, from a sister who asked whether I’d like something beautiful and useless.🙂

My 1974 Kenwood started playing up mid baking for a sale. DH replaced it immediately via on line purchase. The old Kenwood languishes in the garage.

If you ever feel like fixing the old one, IIRC it was a co. in Fareham that we used, It was a bit of a palaver packing it up, but the cost for both repair and service, plus return P&P, did seem very reasonable.

I almost forgot.... I still have the set of Prestige stainless steel kitchen utensils we were given as a wedding present.

I still use my Wedgwood dinner and tea plates. The rest of the dinner, tea and coffee services I recently gave to a charity shop. All in perfect condition and well used.
I also still use the same ironing board.
It's had several changes of cover over the last sixty two years.

I have a gravy boat and the large platter that you would put a chicken or turkey on ,that's all that's left of the full set of pyrex dishes given to us by my SIL 58 years ago, also still have a full set of knives with wooden handles hardly been used .

I was married 60 years ago and no idea what I had to be honest, not an iota, I was married for the second time 48 years ago and no idea what we had then either 😂😂anyway he’s long gone too 😂

I’m still using the cutlery that my husband’s employer gave us. They asked what we wanted and I said a good steam iron, but the boss’s wife vetoed that and got us a canteen of cutlery, in a wooden box no less. The box is long gone and I suspect that the iron wouldn’t have lasted as long.

We still have the two Chelsea Pyrex casseroles an aunt gave us. Only now we also have 250 other pieces that match them. My collecting got out of hand!

Married in 1971. Still have a few plates of the pyrex "Chelsea" design, a few odds and ends of Viners "Shape" cutlery but best of all my Kenwood Chefette. In perfect working condition!

My wedding present china, still loved and used, fifty five years on.
I divorced the chap more than thirty years ago.

I had to throw away my last remaining pan when we got an induction hob. It was really old and battered and regularly used as 'the egg pan' and i still can't cope with using an everyday pan to boil eggs.

We gave our canteen of cutlery to the church as it was so old fashioned but we still have sherry and liqueur glasses and the decanter. They look nice in the cabinet.

We are still using the John Lewis cutlery given to us by my parents, and a stainless steel strainer given to us by a member of the youth group I belonged to.

I've got some stuff still in use from my wedding, back in 1978. The husband's gone, but other items stood the test of time.
I've a set of " Splades" - a knife, fork and spoon all in one, in the kitchen drawer and they really are useful.
One of my favourite things though is a large white, unglazed jug. It has beautiful mouldings in relief around it. I think it's called a Pilgrims jug. It really is lovely and I use it whenever I receive flowers. Precious too as it was given by a very kind auntie, a lovely lady, now long gone, but remembered fondly.

Just the canteen of Sheffield plate that my mother and father gave us. It only gets used at Christmas now, but often made our table look really splendid when we had dinner parties, though the only time we managed to get my father, a man of plain tastes, to join us for Christmas he was rather overwhelmed by the number of items of “his” cutlery he was faced with. We just told him to use whatever he felt like using and ignore anything he regarded as superfluous!!

The other thing I still have is a Granton ham knife that was given to us by my parents next door neighbours. It has been in constant use for sixty years and when in 2019 the original bone handle fell apart, I contacted the firm here in Sheffield and they put a new resin handle on it. It should be good for another sixty years! DD has her name on it!

The only item I have left is my bright orange ironing board. Its had many a new cover on it in the 55 years I’ve owned it.

I regularly use a carving tray, though the matching knife and fork are no longer around. For Christmas and special occasions, I use the cutlery set we were given. I have two left of a set of six whisky glasses, but do not use them.

We’ve been married 37 years and still use the toasted sandwich maker which was a wedding present . We’ve got a few items left from an everyday crockery set. Ditto everyday glasses .

We still have a number of things which we received as wedding presents (42 years ago) and which are regularly in use, including towels, chopping boards, a mixing bowl, casserole dishes and probably more. I'm also using several items which my late MiL received as wedding presents, which would be in the early 1950s.

Yesterday the bread bin that we were given as a wedding present broke. It must be 51 years old and it made me wonder how many other people’s wedding presents are still in daily use. I can think of at least four household items that I use regularly. Anyone else?
