We have already bought our oil and logs, so it would be nice to get a bit of help soon!

Hi Barrow

Only £500. My combined fuel bills were £1,500 last year.

Our combined fuel bill is around £1,200. Barrow will have electricity charges on top of her oil bill. The Winter Fuel Allowance is a help, that's all.

The £500 was only a top up. I usually top up 2 or 3 times a year. I also have a wood burner so I think our fuel bills would be roughly the same.

Aren't I glad we only live in a 1bed apartment and only pay £725.00 per year in total,it was certainly one of the plus's when we decided to move into our home.

Ours have come last week. £100 each.

NfkDumpling Tue 27-Nov-12 20:06:55

That'll pay for the wood he's ordered.

My Husband is entitled to the payment for the first time this year. We sent the form off and was told he would get the payment between Nov and Dec. He got a Letter today to say they would be writing to him In February to see if he is eligible or not?? Why has everybody else had theirs but he has to wait till Feb?

Anybody else been told to wait?

Jodi Thu 06-Dec-12 15:21:45

No. MrJ was eligible for the first time this year and his has arrived.

My Husband has just been on phone and they say he has to wait because we sent the form in after September and it was too late for payment this year?

I have checked the website and I cannot see anywhere where it says you have to have claims in before Sept ? It says payments will be paid Nov-Dec and definitely before Christmas and you have to send forms in before March 2013. I think someone is telling porkies at the DWP. My Husband works but his wages have been frozen for the last 3 yrs and we really need this money to help with the heating bills.

We have now contacted our MP to see what he says but whether it will do any good but worth a try. angry

Yes, I have received it. Mr absent is too young – ho, ho, ho. I have no idea how old he will have to be before he gets his £100n share – and nor does he. ~They have moved the goalposts.

That'll teach you for marrying your toy boy! grin

jeni Thu 06-Dec-12 16:40:50

I haven't had the £10. I had forgotten about that!

jeni Thu 06-Dec-12 16:42:16

Oh I've just checked my account and I have got it.

Ana Thu 06-Dec-12 16:58:25

Imalwayslast I've had a look at the online information about the winter fuel allowance, and it is clear that claims must be made by 30th March for payment to be made for that year. The claim form you must have been looking at would be for next year, so included the date 30th March 2013.

My Husband has just spoken to a guy at work who is the same age and he put his form in a week after us and he said the money went in yesterday!!!! Just so happens his surname begins with a R so is it alphabetically or not! confused Whichever it is it seems like for some unknown reason my Husbands has been pushed over to next year! Had a reply from MP's secretary saying he is looking into it....We won't hold our breath!! angry

Thanks Ana but they never mentioned March on the phone, they said the form should have been in before Sept for payment before Christmas...Think they just make up their own rules as they go along!!
