Anyone had their winter fuel allowance yet?

I'm living in France, but I have applied, and here's hoping....

We've had our letter from DWP saying it's on the way, Dresden. It normally turns up a week after the letter.

Like you we have already stocked up on wood and coal so it will be put towards Christmas and the car tax is due at the end of the month

Oh, good, I had forgotten that. It will help to pay the £500 bill for having the timing belt replaced on my car.

Have just placed an order for heating oil through the village consortium.

What is the fuel allowance these days? I know a few years back my mother used to give hers to charity, but with the interest rate on savings/investments going down, it wouldn't surprise me if she now kept it.

It is £200 unless you are over 80 or live with somebody who is over 80. You can always google any question and get an answer.

I know I could have found it by googling! Was just asking in a conversational sort of way, if you know what I mean.

Mine's usually spent before it arrives. It's paid with my pension, in either November or December.

Going to phone up for a form to fill in next year; they say the payment takes ages to come through so I'm going to put in for it as soon as I'm eligible, which will be just after New Year. I scrape in by 4 days for next winter [hurrah]. Watch them cancel it now .

Ours hasn't come yet, but when it does, it'll be spent on DH's new false teeth! These have been delayed due to the fact that I had to pay quite a large amount extra to the fuel bill as the monthly amount had been underestimated......so, in a round about way, it's still going towards the fuel.

We've received notification of £200 coming our way. Very fair!

mum had notification this week that she will be receiving hers very soon. Joke is only last week they wrote confirming they had changed their records to show the fact that mum is now in a residential home

I had notification that it was on its way last year, but it never appeared on my bank statement. I wonder what is going to happen this year.

One of these years I might get it, but knowing my luck they will stop it the month before I am entitled to it.

Well they haven't paid it with November pension. That went in yesterday.

It comes separately from the pension, jeni (or at least our's does). We get an advice letter from DWP and then the money lands in the bank account about a week later. I check on my mother's allowance as well and I think hers arrives first because she is slightly higher up the alphabet but I could be wrong about that.

I'm a W. Father Christmas always comes to this house last as he works alphabetically.
At least that's what I told the vicar when he asked the children what they'd had at the early morning service, we always did presents on return home!

We're an R so I'll let you know when we've had ours.
